I keep saying that McLaren have the best driver pairing on the grid, they're able to cast the widest net when fishing for wins! I can't wait to see the race, but I'm happiest in the fact that McLaren has made the real deal with progress and I expect them to be in contention for a win for the remaining races of the year and what more can we ask for?

Hm, we could ask for Ferrari also being in contention for wins, maybe Mercedes as well...

I must agree here. They have a driver who can win on pure pace in dry conditions, and another driver who has the calmer head in changing conditions and able to read the track much better. I always maintained Jenson is pretty lucky, but yesterday he DID make the decision to stay out whereas Lewis didn't. A great decision which earned him victory.

It's great to see McLaren achieving back to back victories after their ridiculous Silverstone slump....what a crap race that was, a pure gift to Ferrari from the FIA clowns.

Spa will be the battle of Vettel - Lewis - Alonso....BRING IT!

Mercedes? Poor things. maybe next year. Rosberg may accidentally wind up on a podium, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Asking for Ferrari wins is what the Tifosi are for. They've made leaps and bounds and I fully expect them to podium often in the balance of the year. But the only way to keep Vettel from winning would be domination from one team/driver in the second half of the year... in other words a borefest. :hehe:

I think this lucky thing clearly comes down to you make your own luck, as Jenson has a good feel for conditions, he's able to say, get on slick tyres one lap earlier than the rest of the field and still be confident in himself that he won't crash and vice versa. This enables him to make clearer calmer decisions, not ones just because you feel like you have to do something to cope with the conditions.

all these "lucky" decisions would go down the crapper if he spun it on his first lap on slicks, or if he was too afraid of the posibility of spinning it, to put em on whilst everyone else is wearing the other tires.

Jenson, answered all the critics (<EDIT>WB. Now is that necessary?) for the second time this season.

I'm speaking as a JB fan here; YES, it was a great win but again, like his other victories at McLaren it came from changeable conditions, I think that he needs to win a race in dry conditions to be considered to have answered all his critics. Everyone knows that JB is great in changeable conditions, that's where his smooth driving style pays off most but a dry win is needed IMO!

It just seems to me Jenson is getting screwed (or screwing himself maybe?) in alot races this season.

Everybody runs into bad luck at some point. The Red Bulls had a good bit of that early in 2010. Schumacher had a couple mechanical retirements so far this year, as I recall. It happens once in a while.

Between Button and Hamilton, however, I've always viewed Button as having the better luck and Hamilton the worse.

Yeah, Hamilton is almost like the new Kimi. Kimi could never catch a break! Right up till the final race where he won the WDC. :hehe:

Lewis looks like he caught a break early in his career, but really, it was almost horrible luck again if the Toyota had made it to the finish line with those tyres. I wouldn't blame him if he had gone mental if that happened!

Can imagine a scenario (en pic) like this in Ferrari or Redbull?? :yikes:

Even as a McLaren fan, I am surprised.

If we look at the last 6 races.

Monaco: drove well, unlucky not to contend for lead.
Canada: Nuff said about this already.
EU: Boring race for all.
Silverstone: Mechanic error.
Germany: Car error.
Hungary: Had a good win.

I don't know how this compares to Hamilton as my memory is like a fish in regards to the other drivers. I remember him being borderline wreckless at some points during monaco and canada. Drove well in Silverstone and Germany and made a poor strategic decision last race.

The difference between other teams' #1 & #2 drivers is black and white with a 40-50% points difference. The difference in points between Button and Hamilton is around 10% and he had one more retirement. So why is it Lewis fans think he is the new Senna while regarding Button as the new Trulli? I agree Hamilton has more pace in the car, but sometimes pure pace cant win you a race, aka Hungary.

I don't believe in making you own luck. There is either a situation all drivers are in that they have no control of and gain favour from it (Vettel in Monaco), a situation that effects one driver and is a freak error they have no control over (Button in Silverstone) or a bad decision (Hamilton in Hungary).

I have respect for Hamilton, just not some of his more 'passionate' fans.
