Vettel has no emotional influence over Hamilton whatsoever; just another good driver driving a rocketship..How could he be Hamilton's rival? Drive his redbull into the sunset?

It's not even worth my time talking about Vettel and Hamilton in the same conversation. Might as well you talk about Adrain Newey Vs Hamilton.

Hm, let's see:
SV 1 world championship, LH 1 world championship.
Tie.
SV started out in a back marker team and not in a top team from day 1.
Advantage SV.
SV became the youngest pole sitter (driving for a back marker team).
Advantage SV.
SV became the youngest GP winner (driving for a back marker team).
Advantage SV.
SV took LH's record of youngest world champion.
Advantage SV.
SV did not lie to the stewards.
Advantage SV.

At this rate, LH will have his hands full against his most dangerous rival SV in the coming years. What next for SV? Youngest ever double world champion?

Toro Rosso were hardly backmarkers. Midfield is more like it. Let's not be disingenuous.

Of course logically at this point in time Vettel is a bigger threat to Hamilton but that's not really the point. As I and other have pointed out the feeling of rivalry is emotional. Hell Alonso and Hamilton were fighting to the bitter end over 16th places back in 2009 that's nothing to do with wins or poles or championships.

Toro Rosso sprung from Minardi (an eternal back marker) and still was a back marker when you look at their rankings between 2006 and 2010: 9th, 7th, 6th, 10th, 9th. The only better ranking was 6th when talented SV drove and won for them in 2008 and collected massive points, so duh, advantage SV!!! Back marker, end of.

COME ON!!!!
Torro Rosso was no where near a back marker. At one point it was producing better results than the RB. Seb learnt in a midfield car and since then has had the cream f the field. He still only just scraped through last year.

And anyone can play that comparative game.

Beat 2 time world champion in rookie year
advantage hamilton

Doesnt take out his team mate
advantage Hamilton

Can drive through the field and overtake
advantage Hamilton

Does not want/receive bits of his team mates car
advantage hamilton

remains in championship hunt despite driving slower car
advantage hamilton

when said car is completely of the pace drags it up the grid
advantage hamilton

Silly isnt it. Seb is good so why do you have to put Hamilton down to prove it? That clearly doesnt work.

What a **** assessment.

Its like me saying stuff like:

Lewis is the first black driver in F1 history
Advantage Lewis.

Lewis is the only driver to beat a 2X WDC in the same equipment in his rookie year
Advantage Lewis.

Lewis holds the record for most podiums/points collected in his first F1 year.
Advantage Lewis.

What a joke. Geez.

DD, to be fair, I agree with the others here relating to this. I don't know if you were on the wind up or not when you typed this, but it really is a pretty poor attempt at presenting the facts in a manipulated / biased way. There are plenty of comparisons you could add like this to favour either side - the whole thing is a completely pointless argument until we at least see them either in the same car, or at least in cars with similar levels of performance at the same time.

Relating purely to the topic however, I think again it is an example of Hamilton not explaining himself in quite the way he meant. As others have said, I'm quite sure what he means is that he sees Alonso purely as a 'nemisis' if you like, whether battling him at the front, the midfield or the back of the field. He's not stupid, and he'll know full well that Vettel is the favourite for the title this year - he doesn't need any of us to point that out to him when he's in the same paddock able to see the Red Bull's pace first hand.

in 07 they were 7th and 6th in 2008 Mid Field.

Its not like he put a bloody spyker or force India on pole in 07 or 08

Midfield End Of!!

Besides however bias you think Mclaren are you never heard of them taking wings of Hekki's car to give to Lewis in 08/09

Actually, in fairness, Vettel did pull off a good drive through the pack in Silverstone last year and Hamilton did make a ridiculous overtaking move that resulted in his retirement. :hehe:

At the end of the day, they're both very talented drivers and it isn't fair to make those comments about it being Newey vs. Hamilton instead of Vettel vs. Hamilton. Vettel is quick, no doubt about it, and he's got a car with which he can fight for the title. Likewise, Hamilton is quick and has a car which seems like it has some potential, although is behind the Red Bull at present.

For every good overtake vettle does, he does 3 bad ones that result in him or other driver retiring.

Not saying LH is perfect but 9/10 overtakes work.

A silly comment with no data to back it up. Come on Gaz, you're better than that.

Turkey 2010 - Red Bull 1-2 GONE because he took himself out and demoted Mark to 3rd.

Spa 2010 - Took Jenson Out and Himself out of the points.

Silverstone - Overtook a few back markers.

Two MASSIVE cockups, you don't see other World Champs doing that.

Hes a Pole to Flag boy stick him at the back he'd get to the midfield and stay there.
