When are we going to get some exciting racing again? Even the MotoGP was boring.

Sure you won't get overtaking after overtaking (F1 never has had that) but you might get some improvement.

I was looking over the total overtaking moves per season over the past thirty or so years and whilst they did decline every year, it was a reasonable amount as regulations got tighter. That's a good point. However do you reallly seeee F1 going back to manual gearboxes? Im not against them, infact i've love it - but look at most motorsports around the world. The main classes rarely use them nowadays

Correct. However, because a lot of those also use spec cars (to some extent at least) the need for mistakes is lessened by the fact that nobody's car is a second a lap quicker/slower than anyone else's. It's more down to the driver than the car.

The double diffusers ruined the overtaking, back at the start when only 6 cars had them, the cars could follow a lot closer. But the diffuser just ruined the clean air again

Yep. New regs were suppose to help overtaking but then they blew that away by allowing in double diffusers(which were opposite to the intened regs ) And now, despite the lack of overtaking, they plan to stop refuelling YAAAAWWWNNN!!

well its not the carbon brakes then but im not sure what component of the brakes has made them so effective in the last decade or 2.

Agreed. So no re-fueling will mean heavier cars. Heavier cars means longer braking distances, so I'm hoping that'll help overtaking.

The fact that F1 cars can take corners so fast doesn't help either. Since it means they brake later, since they don't need to shrug of as much speed. Higher top speeds, and lower cornering speeds would increase braking distances and help overtaking. But of course we have less engine power now, and better aero as well slick tyres. So really, we're going in the opposite direction.

I personally think the engine freeze should be removed with haste. It'll put slight less emphasis on aero regs, there'll be no more pathetic trying to equalize engines.

This is another good reason why the brake-disc thickness should stay as it is, so that drivers have to brake earlier and more gentle so we get a much bigger braking zone. This will also be aided by the banning of those unsafe wheel rim covers for next year.

Good thing Max is on his way out. Otherwise they'd probably bring in rules that drivers have to brake at least a certain distance ahead of each corner, and brake with a certain sum total of energy before reaching the apex. With drive through penalties for anyone who fails to brake sufficiently.

That's another factor. Tbh it's been an issue since the mid-70s

Awesome! Some lovely cars there, Hamilton's Ponton, the two BMWs, Trulli in the James Bond 2000GT! Vettel got a nice Bugatti and Kimi got to ride in a 500TRC! I'd love to know what HamBoy and Alo were saying to each other...
