Narain Karthikeyan has been penalised for his collision with Sebastian Vettel at the Malaysian Grand Prix, dropping him to last of the classified drivers.

Karthikeyan and Vettel made contact on lap 48 as the Red Bull lapped the HRT, shredding the left rear tyre on Vettel's car and forcing him to make an unplanned pit stop.

The reigning champion dropped out of the points as a result and blamed Karthikeyan for the incident, saying: "As in real life, there are a few cucumbers on the road."

The FIA handed Kathikeyan a post-race drive-through penalty, which added 20 seconds to his race time and dropped him behind team-mate Pedro de la Rosa in the classification.

Wow. Sure Vettel actually cut across in front of him! I disagree with the decision completely.

Wonderfully exciting race at Sepang, and what a surprise result! OMG!

Who would've thought that we'd see a Ferrari and a Sauber taking the top two positions at this event? Fernando Alonso did indeed benefit from the tricky conditions, but he controlled the race comfortably and took a deserved win.

However, I was thrilled to bits to see Sergio Perez and Bruno Senna do so well, and Peter Sauber will be very proud of the team's start to the year. It was good to see Williams take some much needed points after the disappointment of Melbourne, but can you believe it? Points elude Pastor Maldonado YET AGAIN with only a few moments left of the race!

The young drivers of today seem to be on top form, and Vergne collecting some good points is also good to see.

Romain Grosjean needs to watch it with his early-race coming togethers, because he's costing himself many points, which is sad, when you consider his form in qualifying.

Mercedes? Two races and only 1 point? Oh dear.

Absolutely disgusted at the penalty which is just plain wrong - it simply validates the extremely poor attitude that was displayed by both Vettel and Horner today. Disgraceful.

I was very surprised at Vettel's attitude after the race. It was only recently when I praised the plucky German for his personality, including when times have been tough. Not only was I shocked and disappointed by his attitude in post-race interviews, and I VERY surprised at the penalty handed to Karthikeyen.

At least Jenson Button had the decency to laugh about his disastrous race and admit that contact with Narain was his fault! Vettel, like at Istanbul in '10, was totally in the wrong, and seemingly can't accept that.

Horner's attitude, however, does not surprise me. When the chips are down, he cannot accept being beaten and hastens to lay the blame on anyone but Red Bull. I'd never thought I'd say this once upon a time, but RBR need to get over themselves.

Completely agree. And sure it was us saying in another thread that Red Bull are the "fun" team. Only fun when things are going well it seems.

To be honest, the "fun" moniker seems to have been fading as the years have gone by. At least they still jump in the swimming pool at Monaco I suppose... other than that, not much to shout about... :hehe:

The FIA kissing Red Bull and Seb's arse.

Not a surprise to me but still absolutely, diabolically, undeniably wrong, stupid and plain dumb.

If NK gets a penalty for hitting SV, then why doesn't JB get a penalty for hitting NK?

NK didn't hit Seb, it quite the other way around. And therein lies the shocking action taken by the stewards. :(

If the incident was between a Sauber and a Williams (for example), no further action would've taken place.

It's just because it's the "almighty" Red Bull and the "almighty" Sebastian Vettel versus little ol' HRT and Narain Kathikeyan just minding his own business that HRT were needlessly penalised.

Well yes, that was part of what I was pointing out. You can't penalise NK when it wasn't really his fault, when JB gets off scot free when it was JB's fault.
#296590
JB has said it was 100% his fault. Is it about who goes and shouts the loudest at the stewards?
They were either both racing incidents or the blame and penalty lies with the driver hitting from behind.
