Just to add some geek stuff: I just watched a Netflix show on my iPhone, uh, no, the iPhone offered the option to watch it on my LG TV, so I did 8-)

That's almost as good as remoting into my office PC and streaming a movie through rdp on my laptop to my TV!

So you didn't know whether you wanted to watch a show on a 4 inch screen or a 50 inch screen?

It depends on the room I am in: if it's where the TV is, then there's the option, if I'm in another room with my iPhone, then it doesn't offer that option (which makes sense I suppose).

I stream movies to watch on my phone if I need a poo and everyone else can carry on watching the movie while I am otherwise engaged

You could plait all those coloured cables and make things to decorate the house ....or modern jewellery. A lot of modern jewellery is made from plastic junk.

Your femininity is exploding!

You should see the cable talktalk sent me it's an ultra thin Ethernet cable never seen one like it before.

I actually saw a flat cat6e cable in Walmart yesterday but I am not willing to pay $28 for a 6ft patch cable; I don't care how thin it is!

Yeah this one is flat, it's weird I've never seen one like it until a few days ago. That's pretty pricey :O

No not dirty wifi

I made some today (5e) cause i run a server at home that needs to stream beyond wifi capability and also backup pcs

1gbps is required

My wifi manages all of my media needs easily enough, but yeah I use wired connections for the heavier stuff.

My Wi-Fi network gets close to that; it's capable to 900Mbps (2.4 & 5Ghz) if we had the right W-Fi cards in our computers, media boxes, unfortunately we do not... but 150Mbps seems to work fine for streaming HDmedia around the house! With the new AC standard, that is capable of upto 1.7Gbps, but hardly no commercially available technology uses the standard at this time, but give it a year!

Hell, I can stream OnLive max quality on my tablet via my wifi with no lag what so ever so for me simple 2.4ghz wireless N is more than satisfactory for my needs.

Go DD ;) I love how Sky think blocking HDMI on phones/tablets will stop people using them to play SkyTV on a TV (essentially getting sky multiroom for free) it can be bypassed several ways, ways they can't block. I've rooted and put a custom rom on my tablet and phone so Sky Go doesn't work on them at the moment. When they finally make an app for the tablet I'll flash stock back onto my tablet with a backup of my tweaked rom & just switch between the roms to get the use of Sky Go whenever I need it... lol only takes a minute or two to switch back and fourth

Lovely and classy Jabber ;) lol

This is heavy reading for first thing in the morning!!
But while your here, or hereabouts, and talking about cables. I have two simple questions, if anyone has any ideas?.....

1) can I get sky from someone else's television onto my iPad? (If they nominate my iPad as a device...I may be able to offer favours in return ) and if I can do that do I have to stay in the same house as the TV with sky to watch it ? Or can I go anywhere? And if I go anywhere can it be a long way away from the house with sky? And if all those answers are yes, how do I get it onto my iPad?

2) how do I make pictures small when using the iPad, so I can post them and they're not giant sized? There is a very long winded way, it means putting pictures from the iPad onto photo bucket, then going into photobuckeet on a PC, then I can change the size then put it on the forum. But I want to cut out having to go to the PC. Also photobucket have changed their site and its got harder, not sure if I can still do it
I have the following photoey type of apps on my iPad
Photo gene
Photobuckeet
Photoshop express
HPeprint
Photo lab
Instagra
Prezi ( I have absolutely no idea what this is or does, but I had to download it to read an article....about Alonso as it happens)
All suggestions welcomed :)

You'll need the Sky Go app and details of someone who has a spare slot available for a device. You can watch from wherever you have a connection; my parents have used it whilst they were down in London and I think MOA uses Sky Go over in the US.

And here was me thinking this was holiday-time and I didn't have to do tech support... :hehe:

:hehe: It's female, and the favours are likely to be lending clothes, providing nice food, providing a taxi service and anything else that can be squeezed out of the deal.

Thanks Dent  when you say 'have a connection' do you mean joined by a wire to something somehow or is wifi ok?

Try PhotoPad (Free) or PhotoForge2 (Free) or iResize (Paid)

You're technically not allowed to use Sky Go outside of UK and Ireland it's against the TOS unless you're doing it via a vpn or proxy then it will be fine as they can't tell.

Damn, I was excited and was hoping for some.... different favours ahaha jk. Somehow I don't think any of us apart from Lew would be into the dressing in female clothes :P ahah

RC, get the Sky Go app, sadly for me I can use it as I have the US appstore :( but I do stream via a browser using a VPN service on my HTPC setup using my father's name and viewing card details.

Any internet connection will work as long as it's fast enough to stream media. I would suggest using a 2Mb plus connection for reliable streaming if possible.

Alternatively you could stop being a cheapskate and just purchase Sky Go... ;) I wish that I have the luxury of having my own subscription; but I'm outside of the allowed area! :(

As far as I can remember you can only change the nominated device a month or more after the device in that slot was last changed so when you change to a new device it'll have to stay on the device list for at least that time.
Other than that you can use it anywhere with a wired or wireless internet connection as long as it's fast enough.
