Come now, he is a world champion, he's not as a bad driver as you guys make out. He has shown some really good drives. He has preformed higher than many expected against Lewis after 2009, I think Lewis is faster, but nevertheless having Button was a far bigger challenge for Lewis as a team mate than Hekki, and due to on track driving too, it wasn't just political games, even if Button played any, which to be honest I'm not that sure about.

I wouldn't blame Button for Lewis leaving, how many of Lewis's problems were actually caused by Button anyway? Unless Lewis just didn't like a good team mate with driver equality.

Button isn't the reason Lewis left Mclaren, and Lewis isn't afraid Of good team mates, he relishes it. look who his first team mate Was, and remember what he said when reflecting on Ron Dennis' words before his first race?
Ron- 'Dont worry if Fernando is half a second faster.'
Lewis- I wasn't, because he wouldn't be.
No, Lewis certainly didn't run from Button. However the team trying to cater for a driver with hugely differing needs, who wanted understeer dialling in to give grip probably compromised Lewis' title challenges. That and the general lack of success over six years.....one title with Hamilton in six years?? Just not good enough.

I know Button comes in for an undue amount of stick from Lewis fans, but some of his tactics have left a nasty taste in the mouth. I can't like the man and his underhand methods.. Clearly he's a world champion and when conditions are right he can put in some stunning drives. But in my mind he's no where near Lewis' league both in his driving talent and the way he goes about his business. I can't forgive some of his sneaky behaviour.

But hey, we're all different, all turned on by different things and all entitled to our views. If Button presses your Buttons that's just dandy

I'm confused. What tactics has Button used? What is the list of charges?

You are right though, he does come in for an undue amount of abuse.

Read the thread from the beginning and you'll know what has been said perhaps you won't be confused.

If you're really interested on the topic, there's also quite a bit of content his this thread; viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8050&p=338646&hilit=jenson+v+lewis#p338646

I'm not giving a list of charges because it will ignite old arguments and it's all been said before. suffice it to say I, and many others I believe when I read around, were not appreciative of the way he went about undermining Hamilton during their time at McLaren.
I mentioned it as a reason for the criticism he comes in for, the reason a lot of people dislike him.

Other people of course may say ...all's fair in love and n war, he did nothing illegal, good luck to him. That's a valid viewpoint, not one I share but a valid one.

I think the reality is that whoever is Lewis' team mate; they'll get a good amount of stick from the Hamilton fans, especially if they beat him on any given day, race, year, season... Button has copped a lot of flack for no reason that I can see; it's not JB's fault that LH is naive when it comes to playing the media/political game in F1, which seems to be the main complaint against JB!

I think the main complaint is that he's tried to make up for the talent deficiency delta by manipulating and playing the F1 game. Not that's he's manipulated and and exploited LH's naivete.

All you have to look at is what's said by a podium drivers during the post race interviews. At least with the current crop of grid drivers, the better ones seem to be very economical with their words when answering questions. Some drivers simply don't have to play that game.

I think there's obviously resentment, disbelief really on the part of Hamilton fans that Mclaren didn't want to keep him, or better said, wasn't willing to capitulate to whatever demands Lewis was making of them. But you can't have anything but respect for a guy leaving a top team to try and help another team become a top team. Jenson will likely finish his career with Mclaren, and it remains to be seen whether he'll win a WDC with them or not, but it was very clear to everyone, even Jenson fans, that with Lewis driving for McLaren, the chances of Jenson wining a WDC were made considerably slimmer, perhaps that's now changed.

I've always liked Rosberg, and nothing I've seen or heard from and about him has changed that opinion.
"I will face teammate challenge like a man" love it! bring it On!! And as I've said several times if Rosberg beats Lewis in a fair fight on the track good luck to the lad!! The rankle with Button is he tried persistently to take credit where credit was not due.
Now if I want to get excited about politics I'll watch 'question time', or 'prime ministers questions' not F1

Oh, and Rosberg handles British media with the contempt they deserve!!

Button? Alonso still has an f1 seat, and Binachi's got a good possibility.

Stuff like this
Jenson Button is fit and fast enough to win his second Formula One world championship this year, but in case he needs a little help he is calling on Nigel Mansell and Luke Skywalker. As double invocations go this is surely one of the best. Both were brave and sometimes breathtakingly fast. And both characters are associated with the red No5, which Button's McLaren car will be carrying this season.

Compare this with what the other drivers have said
"Most drivers say they're excited about the season," he said, "but you don't really enjoy all the pre-season stuff, the interviews, the sponsorship events, it's not what we're here to do, it's not what we love. But this year I arrived back and I thought: 'Let's get it on.' I'm really excited about working with the sponsors, trying to do everything as well as we can, make it as fun as we can and it's been really good so far.

"I've even enjoyed talking to you guys, man. This isn't normal. There's something wrong with me. But I'm in a really good place, and really excited about driving the car on Tuesday."

Jenson himself eluded to it when talking last season; the chances of either driver winning a WDC when there is two lead drivers are slim because they take points off each other, while other teams like Ferrari tend to put all their eggs in one basket; would Schumacher have won seven world titles if he had a team mate on equal terms? I acknowledge that Lewis is the faster driver by some margin; sometimes 'cruise and collect' wins titles, consistency over outright speed.
