Underlining what a successful weekend Fernando had, he has been credited with a Grand Chelem on Wiki :-)
(Grand Chelem is French for Grand Slam)
Wiki defines it as leading the entire race as well as fastest lap. I always thought a Grand Slam (in F1) was winning and leading the entire race, pole and fastest lap - which Nando also achieved on Sunday.
Not a bad effort and only the 22nd driver in F1 history to achieve it. Only Shumi of the current lot is also credited with a Grand Slam, in fact 5 of them.

The two real achievements, and in F1... one real achievement and that's a win.

Fastest lap, pointless, leading every lap, also pointless. Pole, that's nice, the win, that's the achievement.

It's all still worth 25 points.

Plus, that 'grand slam' kind of cheapens F1's as it's much much much simpler getting a grand slam in F1 than the real 'grand slam' in tennis...

[quote]You're right.

Alonso the man!! Totally DESTROYED crash kid in Hungary and Singapore and OBLITERATED Jenson in Monza. Boys pack your bags. This championship is sealed./quote]

Mmmm How many more races has Alonsos engine got to do ?

4 maybe 3 weekends !

2000 mile limit !!!

Potential 10 place grid drop me thinks !!!

Posted this before, but it pretty well covers the engine situation:-

Both Ferrari cars, exactly the same as both McLarens will finish the year without using any of their engines more than 3 times. (both teams will use most of their engines 3 times) Incidentally, both the Ferrari and Mercedes engines have already proven they can run at least 4 races this year. Force India have used the same Merc engine 4 times and Torro Rosso have likewise used the same Ferrari engine 4 times. Engines are not an issue for either team.

Also, there is no mile limit on engines.

I thought Vettel generally ran a very "mature race", though now I just remembered him slightly botching his pit stop by not getting in first gear. It's pretty minor in itself, but he always seems to do something when he's in a good (high pressure) race position.

Number of Grand Chelem's.

1º Jim Clark 8
2º Alberto Ascari 5
3º Michael Schumacher 5
4º Jackie Stewart 4
5º Ayrton Senna 4
6º Nigel Mansell 4
7º Nelson Piquet 3
8º Juan Manuel Fangio 2
9º Jack Brabham 2
10º Mika Hakkinen 2
11º Mike Hawthorn 1
12º Stirling Moss 1
13º Jo Siffert 1
14º Jacky Ickx 1
15º Clay Regazzoni 1
16º Niki Lauda 1
17º Jacques Laffite 1
18º Gilles Villeneuve 1
19º Gerhard Berger 1
20º Damon Hill 1
21º Fernando Alonso 1

The last one was in Hungary, 2004. (Schumacher)

Hamilton almost got in Hungary, 2007, but Raikkonen had set the fastest lap in the very last lap.

Here it is from three different angles. Its clear Lewis didnt turn in on Webber. Webber was too late on his breaks and he had room there.

Give it a rest racechick.
Hamilton just played it like he always does... too aggressive and not thinking of the championship.
He should be thinking of his car 1st but all he did was set himself up for a take out, which Webber dished up for him.
Webber had the preferred line; Hamilton taking a new one in hopes that Webber would back down, which he never does.
It was a bad decision on Hamilton's part and pretty much took him out of the WDC.
No one is to fault here.
Just some stupidity on Hamilton.

First off, i realise you used pretty much in that bolded part, but you also realise alonso and vettel had been written off pre monza, when alonso was more then twenty points off the top, hamilton is now 20 off the top and yet he cant somehow win it, hmmmmmmm. Now where is Alonso and where is Vettel, right back in it. Theres a long way to go yet.

I was okay with it until I saw Red Bull guys jumping up and down and clapping hands because Hamilton was out of the race. I can fully understand when your teammate overtakes someone and you're happy but clapping hands because of one's unluck is unsportsmanship.

IIRC it was some Ferrari mechanic clapping to which i shouted at the tv (in hindsight i shouldnt have): enjoy it while it lasts you italian edit.
I can understand your sentiments entirely...... but please dont try to circumnavigate the swear filter. Thanks

Now that lewis''s and jenson's chances in winning the WDC is small, I'm actually hoping that it will be webber who'll take the championship...

Anyone but alonso....

Anyone but the best you mean :-)

No, thats not what he meant. :)

Didn't the McLaren mechanics whoop and cheer 2 years ago in Singapore when Massa drove away with the fuel pipe?

You don't think McLaren mechanics were cheering in Turkey this year when the redbulls took each other out?

Only saw the footage once, so I can't judge in if the reaction was OTT or just normal competitive racing emotion.

Well Im getting over my deap depression of yesterday and can just about accept it was a racing incident. It was a good move by hamilton and he was very unlucky. Webber on the other hand was very very very lucky. Lewis will fight to the end and overtake whenever he gets an opportunity. He will be aided by the new upgrades mcLaren have promised him for Japan.

Is it just bad luck though, I am wondering as we've seen a few instances now where that McLaren seems to "break" in incidents whereas the other car continues on, of course every impact will be slightly different and its hard to tell.
