And he was overtaken by Hamilton, which others have said in other threads on here was probably what made him take the risk of changing to dry tyres early.

It of course couldn't be the much more logical reason that when he was overtaken by Lewis it's because his rears had gone off, which he already noticed was starting to happen, and he needed a solution to that problem. Why couldn't it be that? Because some people on the internet said otherwise.

Is that not a red bull in eaglef1's avatar ?? whats with the anti Jenson crap??.. he bored or something ??

Not so much anti, more trying to explain why I enjoyed Hamiltons drive more than watching Button.

Oh so now this genius decision was actually dictated by his tyres going off then!! From the man who can keep his tyres working the longest, when in fact the Red Bulls reckon they could have gone longer on the intermediates.

That's your response?

Yeah, whatever, have fun with that. Try to keep the noise down though, the grown ups are talking.

Seriously this thread is one massive royal rumble.

At anyrate, it was more interseting watching Hamilton this race, but Button quite clearly did better. It was Button who made the call to get him the lead, just cos he diddn't do it the hard way through overtaking his way up the grid I don't feel its less worthy.

Too true, Jenson and Lewis are very different drivers and this year is a very different season, Jenson looked after his tires better than anybody and went faster than anybody on them, Lewis, IF he'd been on only that one set of slicks would have burned them up and been nowhere.

I suspect if the mandatory tire change wasn't in force Jenson would smoothly and undramatically win every single race.

CORRECT !! that i think is what martin was thinking as well and stopped short of saying . He added "if the tires lasted..."

Hamilton didn't have any tyre problems. In fact, of those in the front his tyres were in the best condition. Why speculate when you have evidence? Just read the driver quotes on the f1 website.
