Yeah, I'm sure I remember people laughing about how Mercedes are s*** and would be fighting with FI, and struggling to get into Q3........

Err..when all those rumour mills were about, I was like the only one here (I think RC as well) willing him to sign with Mercedes.

I was pretty happy when he did. But yeah...never expected this sort of performance from them. Hopes soared after the last days of winter testing, but still pole in the 3rd race..and making it look so easy, simply brilliant. I love this team through n through.

They might not need him at all, aero is losing a bit of regulation conducive ground relative to mechanical for the next epoch, and Aldo Costa + the aero guy from Renault + Brawn + Lowe + Bell + Willis + Toto + power unit + Mercs willingness to open the wallet as success starts to roll could mean the ability to out spend and out gun Neweys Red Bull.

But I reckon it would be hard for Newey to say no to a doubled pay cheque and some Merc projects and directorships for his spare time and or retirement

Red bulls dominance is not just down to Newey, more with their resources and willingness to shatter any RRa or previous budget records.

Ferrari/MS style domination is on the cards here I believe

I agree. brawn is perfect. But I have this sneaking suspicion that Lauda might want him out. I realy, really hope I'm wrong on this!

Thing is Lauda and Toto, although minority stakeholders dont have ultimate control over firing Brawn or removing him, the board would have to decide that. So Brawn can always appeal direct to them, and as long as Lewis(and Nico) are producing results RB is untouchable. Lauda would be laughdad out of town if he wanted to remove Brawn whilst he was producing results, I mean who would replace him? Lauda?
This is what RB did at Ferrari, built a unit that won things and stayed beyond the reach of the usual Italian political factions.
And Toto seems a sensible chap, and should keep the absolutely barking Lauda in check

Lauda does worry me look how it worked out the last time he weaseled his way into F1 team management

That was Ford not Lauda's fault. Jaguar never did well regardless of who was put in charge of the team.
