What is wrong with the picture here? The guys who passed the safety car start 2nd through 9th on the restart and the guys that didn't pass it start behind them. Oh, and the 5 second penalty is a joke. That is just the FIA trying to fix their screw up. What is a 5 second penalty in F1? Maybe 1 spot. The guys that passed the safety car should have been sent to the rear. They punished the guys who didn't pass the safety car and rewarded the ones that did.

The bottom line. No one should be able to pit until the safety car picks up the leaders. The most expensive and lucrative series in the world can't seem to get simple safety car procedures right. Oh, and this street layout is pretty damn boring. Quit designing these tracks with 22 turns and start designing tracks where you have a chance to pass.

This was all the problem, in reality. That SC deployment was one big clusterf--k.

hmmm think i heard Alonso say the word "Hamilton" more than the commentators

I heard him say. 'Do nothing else in this race but get on to race control about hamilton.' :yikes: Sod my tyres, strategy, petrol consumption, just get after Hamilton, great idea  he then went on to ask about him frequently till his team had to tell him to cool down and concentrate on the race..and thats just the transmisson we heard!

And as usual, you and yours take that as a personal attack on Hamilton. Why does everything have to be some kind of drama fest with you people? What if Alonso had not said the word Hamilton, and had instead said 'the WDC leader whose points total matters'? Would that sink it into collective fangroup's mind that it's not a personal attack on Hamilton but rather a racer who is in the WDC running trying to make sure the allotment of points for that championship is fair?

No of course it wouldn't. The Hamilton group always needs some kind of demon to cry and whine about. First its the FIA who wants to kill McLaren, now its Alonso. It's like all of you have some sort of 'poor me, I'm a victim' mentality. Oh my god, Alonso complained about what is quite obviously a fukked situation with the safety car....he must hate poor dear Lewis...lets all get together and have a group cry!

Alonso has plenty of reason to be pissed. Every legitimate race fan on this planet can see pretty clearly how Alonso got screwed. He followed the rules and lost 6 places...while the guy who broke the rules lost nothing. If you seriously can't see the problem with that, and why Alonso was worried about how many points Hamilton gets from that race...then seriously, you can't be helped. Points add up, and WDC's have been decided by as little as ONE point....it matters.

He (Alonso) followed the rules?? :hehe: . he had no choice he was behind the safety car end of. lewis was alongside, so a decision had to be made.

If Alonso had not repeatedly said "hamilton" and questioned only the safety car situation then you are quite right I would not be thinking alonso bore a grudge. But boy does he bare a grudge :hehe: On a personal level I dont give a chicken's arse that alonso complains about lewis. I think its funny, and the only one its hurting is Alonso.

It's amazing how some people justify things.
If this had happened the other way around, all LH fans would be fuming and calling FA all kind of names.
It's somehow amazing and starting to feel tired of all the crap that get leveled at FA as if he's the worst driver ever (personality wise).
All top notch drivers are in the same boat. We have seen LH, SV, MW, FA complain and whine about almost anything and everything.
But somehow it's only when FA does it, it seems that the skies fall down.

FA did not say that LH deliberately passed the SC. His outrage was towards the SC timing, the stewards and the rules since you can't have the outcome of a race decided by ambiguous rules.
FA could have finished 2nd or 3rd in the race but ended up in 8th because of the SC. That's what his anger is about.
Why should he be fine with such an event that ruined his race and robbed him of points that could decide the WDC.
I have no doubt that LH would be as upset and outraged as FA is.

If it had happened the other way around we would bitch, for sure. But ultimately we're so used to Hamilton getting screwed over by the FIA's decisions that I, for one, don't bother getting worked up about it anymore. You have to take the rough with the smooth, I'm afraid - and Alonso needs to learn that.

I understand that most people on this forum are English and only care about Hamilton. I'm not, so I don't have a horse in the race. I was just very disappointed as a race fan to see this race turned into a joke by the FIA.

I just think the backmarkers shouldn't be rewarded by pitting first just cause they haven't passed pit lane yet. If the FIA wants this to never happen again, it's pretty simple. Don't open pit lane until the safety car picks up the leaders.

If Hamilton was in Alonso's position, he would be bitching too. Leave the bias at home and exam it from an objective POV.

I've found that there is too much bias from some people in terms of where there support lies or their personal dislikes or likes for either Alonso, Ferrari, Hamilton, the FIA or McLaren.

As a result, it is hard to just look at the incident itself without it turning into another mud slinger.

Sing the changes I say, Sing the changes!

What are these times that Hamilton has gotten screwed over by the FIA? I can only think of one time he was punished that was even questionable.
