Nope... the last one I had, I tried to teach it to swim

Not the backstroke I hope.

EDIT: What did you do?

obviously he got too ambitious, needed to teach it to float first.

It can aquaplane quite well.

The E39's are growing on me, I blame Clarkson... I am sure it is good for commuting as well... what is it like for towing things?

There's a possibility that Clarkson is Scotty's father?

What, a 5 series? No idea... but they are bloody roomy, the boot is pretty massive too. Could always get an estate? I am, of course, hoping that you refer to towing a trailer here, and not a bloody caravan. :hehe:

If you need to transport a lot of stuff i do recommend a Volvo, i had a V70 last time i had a car and that had ultra massive amounts of space. Very good for commuting too i did a bunch of 6 hour journeys to Glasgow no problem :)

God no! Why would you say such a thing?!

The E39s are said to be the last real BMWs ever made. Since that new designer came on board and made the E60, its just become too boxy and muscular which has completely strayed away from the sleek designs BMW were known for. I've driven the 39, very nice car in terms of handling and comfort. They do have electronic glitches though, but the engine and mechanical components are over engineered similar to its predecessors.

I keep being more and more disappointed about the overall state of everyday car design. I didn't like the direction BMW took, I despised the direction Mercedes took and VWs no longer look distinctive like they used to. At 100 yards you can park a Hyundai, a Honda, a VW, a Toyota and not be able to tell which is which.

VW killed the new beetle redesign. I'd love to see a retro Mk 1 golf reintroduced to light up the hot hatchback segment.

Actually Subaru is the only one I can think of that's making distinctive choices still available.

Nissan has some very distinctive lines in some models - not saying I like them, but they are at least a bit off the wall and different.
