AKR! where have you been hiding? So what do you think of Lewis' move? I have to buy new F1 clothes for next year. I've been looking but the new season ones aren't out yet. Sad about Mclaren, but I'm going with Lewis.

Bud is a staunch Mclaren fan. His sig is a reference to some of the fallout on the forum since Lewis announced his move.

I see re bud.it seems you want to ditch mclaren by your words. May I make a suggestion. Why don't you go for Lewis and mclaren? That is support the Mercedes that Lewis will drive only and then the 2 mclaren cars regardless who drives them. After all a mclaren is still a mclaren absent lewis. :-) . This is what I would do and is purely just my opinion which is neither right or wrong.

As for Lewis going to Mercedes, dumb move as mclaren are cleanly better a the moment. Maybe for Lewis mclaren absent Ron Dennis isn't what it used to be for him and he wants the change. Let's see if Lewis can bring mercedes back to winning ways like Schumi did for Ferrari all does many years ago. It will take time.

Oh and where have I been hiding. Just busy. But been watching all th races and keeping up to date like always.

Well it's good to hear from you again. I'm afraid I can't take your advice. I have to follow my heart and my heart is with Lewis. Just as you would have to follow Ferrari whoever drove for them, i will follow Lewis wherever he goes. It will be strange not supporting McLaren next year because I have done so through Montoya and now Lewis, so a long time. But it's now Mercedes and I will be wanting them to beat Mclaren next year. I've not been entirely happy with Mclaren this year for a number of reasons and I don't like one of next years drivers. So it's a big change. But not the first time. I followed Damon from Williams to Arrows (that was HARD) then Jordan. And then Montoya to Mclaren. The hard thing for me is when my driver leaves F1.......then I'm lost for a while.
I know next year will be tough, but I'm excited to see what will happen. It's not just about winning for me it's about reaching and exceeding potential.
And you? Do you think Alonso will do it????

Will Alonso do it? It depends. If someone can do a Kimi to Vettel (ie what happened to Alonso in Korea) and then Alonso wins or comes second in the next race maybe there is a chance. But of Vettel wins it and Alonso comes second, it will almost be as good as over.

Btw I do not mean to be disrespectful, but i half respect your decesion re McLaren and Lewis. I know you are a Lewis fan, but you are also a McLaren fan. The fact you first like Lewis and even Montoya before that was because they were at McLaren. I haven't always liked the drivers of Ferrari, but yet I have never turned my back on Ferrari. You shouldn't also ever turn your back on McLaren, your F1 team. :)

It's ok AKR, you and I think differently about it. I didn't support Lewis and Montoya because they drove for McLaren, I
Supported then because I liked their style in the race car. I followed Montoya to McLaren from Williams, had watched him across the pond in Cart before that.
It's the driver first for me. I thought I'd have a dilemma if ever Lewis left McLaren, because i was growing to like the team, but after the last two years, it's easy. I think the only team I had a soft spot for whether or not my driver was driving for them was Jordan. It's not a case of turning my back on my team, it's a case of sticking with my driver.

I don't get this high horse judgement by those 'team' fans...I mean do you guys own some shares in the team or something? Last I heard, only Williams has gone public with shares freely traded.

Some of us here relate to drivers, and some of us relate to teams so get over it.

Even amongst the team 'fans' if you haven't been on a guided tour of the teams factory you are on a low horse and not worthy to support the team, with McLaren going down the Williams road they might have to start selling guided tours of the MTC to mugs or they might become a cartoon company instead

It's a difference of opinion, not a characterization of personality. move the discussion along, or stop the circular arguments. Otherwise what you're saying is that everything that was going to be said has been and we can close the thread.

I think you missed the point that Cookinflatsix was making. He was in fact agreeing with your point. fans are fans whether they vist gp's, vist factories, only watch on tele, support drivers or support teams. None are any more worthy, any better than the rest. Can we now do as WB suggests and move the discussion on.

Agreed Rc

Fans of all sport all take the holier than thou approach, football fans who watch games on tv are not real fans to those who attend games, those who attend home games only are not real fans to those that attend away matches etc etc etc

Its just about opinion as to what a fan 'must be'

Its clear though that the less intelligent you are the less able you would be of seeing things from the POv of others and to be tolerant in understanding that everyone can be a fan in their own way

This is what forums are good for

Intelligence has nothing to do with tolerance, there's been some pretty intelligent Popes yet the Catholic church still doesn't see my POV that I could marry Daniel Craig if either of us were gay and into each other. So I have to go back to beating the drum of live and let live and if you've already had a discussion with someone that you've had ten time before, it's probably best not having that discussion an eleventh time since you're going going to change each others mind.

agree to disagree.

Maybe Lewis lambs are really that much more intelligent than the rest of us...I mean, clearly they have a higher intellect than the people who work in F1 to be forever critisising them. :whip:

Then maybe abolish democracy...since we shouldn't have voters. Who are voters anyway?? Like they know as much about running the country as the President!

McLaren Mutts might want to face up to the fact that the team is a hopeless cause since discounting Lewis' last lap lunge in Brazil 2008, they haven't won jack sh*t in 13 years with the staff they have got in 2013...that's over a decade, some 'top team'.

C'mon guys. Fans are fans. You don't have to agree with someone else's perspective but please respect it.
