The tyres didn't last and Hamilton was on the BBC just saying that he doubted he could have won anyway.
But that is to ignore his times compared to the other podium finishers. He was in the hunt, as has been explained on the BBC forum.
The times are fine but you saw how much the tyres went off. Besides, Vettel was quite a bit quicker today. Assuming his altenator hadn't failed he'd have won with Hamilton 2nd. Alonso would have been a factor as well.
