I think this Fantasy League is pap. We need a different one for next year.

You have to pay to enter all the best ones. This is the best free one i could find. It does the job ok, it's fun and something to talk about :)

That's a fair point. I do appreciate you going to the effort of finding it and setting up our league, so please don't think my comments take away from that.

I'm happy to put up. I may just have to put a bit more effort into my choices next year....!

Also, drivers are de-valued way too much if they retire due to circumstances out of their control - like being a victim of a crash. Granted, sometimes that can be a judgement call, but in situations like Spa turn 1 last week, I don't think Alonso's price should have been reduced by an automatic $4M.

But like WB said, you just have to recognize the faults and take advantage of them. I picked up Alonso for a nearly even swap with Webber due to that crash.

You make a good point. Maybe a refinement of the rules for next season to devalue a driver only 2M if they retire for a mechanical or something outside of their control instead of the full 4M. But like I said, you work to exploit the game. I was just able to pick up Alonso as well, which there was no way for me to have been able to do just two races ago!

I'm just gonna say that I've really enjoyed playing this Fantasy League so far this season. It was my first Fantasy F1, and I think it's great fun. Good work scotty.

It's also my first year of FantasyF1; and it's fun competing against my fellow forumites, even if my season has been hit or miss, would have been a great last race if it wasn't for JB's retirement!

I can't get onto the league site. So bloody annoying! :banghead: And me backwards breakdancing bear is taking an unauthorised and unscheduled break. Have to get a new one. :irked:

Your bear seems fine to me.

Same here. I did join another league too, but it isn't as interesting as this one. In that league, the drivers' and teams' values don't fluctuate AT ALL, so good assets who were rated low at the beginning of the season (like Raikkonen), EVERYONE has because they're so cheap. Likewise, assets who have underperformed relative to last year, no one uses (Vettel, Button). This leads to most teams being quite similar and static.

The game isn't as important as being able to talk smack about winners and losers here! I think part of the reason the pool game does so well is because we actively participate and manage and discuss and make choices every single GP.

Yep, gives some added interest as does the pool. Gets a bit confusing when you're happy the 'wrong' guy has done well and benefitted your pool selections or fantasy team though and not gonna give up on my fantasy team just cos it's doing bad, see if I can claw back a few places now I think my team's looking a bit better.

Hey everyone! I am the co creator of the Fantasy F1 Sport site along with wacky racers who you have mentioned!. Seeing as your our biggest sub league group I thought I could get some feedback from you about changes you would like for next year? this is our first year running so obviously there are going to be things that need to be changed and ironed out!. Any feedback would be great! Thanks a lot.

Cheers!

Hey thanks for the post. I think some good things have already been mentioned, although it would require some reading on your part since the thread is rather long.

I nominate Scotty (one of our moderators) to maybe work directly with you. As you can see, we've all liked the game and we spend some time discussing the outcomes after every GP. I think a little bit of suffering is good. If it was too easy, it wouldn't be fun, so I like the restrictions over all, just continue to tweak the balance of it.

Off the top of my head, one of the suggestions was to have varying degrees of devaluing a driver/teams given their DNFs. So a mechanical failure would devalue a team, a double mechanical DNF might devalue a team even more. So in other words pushing a team or a driver more if something is their fault as opposed to not their fault. A DSQ for having something illegal on the car etc.

You can also ding drivers for penalties.

The other things would be to perhaps reward additional moves for a GP if you win one of the bets. Also making the bets less static might be nice, like a specific bet for tailored for that GP.

One last thing, reward wins, they're hard to come by, so a driver that wins should get a BIG bonus. Right now that diver that's scored the most points is Kimi, and he's not had a win, so the proportions of points awarded to actual achievement is somewhat skewed.

We already plan to have a proper points breakdown page available for next season, so you can see exactly where your points are coming from each race.

We have a system at the moment for calculation of values, but obviously its not detailed enough to take into consideration for what type of DNF has occurred so we are going to make this a lot more intelligent and stable. As someone else stated maybe taking the championship position into account as well.

We also are going to do something with the bets, like you said tailor some for specific races. Maybe a big list of available bets from the start and a random selection of these will be chosen for each race along with the tailored bets, so this will add variety, so no race will have the same bets.

Ah yes a bigger bonus for the winning driver, I was talking about this the other day actually. Keep them coming, we want to try and make the game as accurate and fun as possible!, as I hope you can understand there is only two of us who created it from scratch and who continue to administer it so the workload is quite high!.

Cheers

I understand, and like I said, we've enjoyed the game as is. It's good to know you guys are actively working on improvements. Maybe go for the low hanging fruit first.

Id you'd like, we can collaborate on a list of bets here. Come us with something amongst our members and then submit them to you guys to incorporate them.

Like a bet for Rain in the Bahrain GP, with 100/1 odds. :D
