Lewis Hamilton is to join BBC Sport as a columnist this season, starting on Friday.
The 2008 world champion, who drives for Mercedes in 2013, will write for the BBC Sport website on the Friday before every grand prix this year. The column, Hamilton's first as a Formula 1 driver, is a key part of a revised online offering this season.

is there anything this man can't do? :cloud9:

Ive just put £60 on Seb at 2.75, £85 on Lewis at 8 and £20 on Nico at 25 for Aus

So as long as 1 of those wins I wont lose, if Lewis or Nico win though :cloud9:

And apart from WC bet (and the bet with Bud) this is going to be the only betting I do this season

Lets hope he doesn't understand Beeb reporter guideline 20334 about putting down Hamilton and bigging up Button at every opportunity

I like how much more you put on Hamilton over nico, considering their both in the same car and in my opinion almost equal circumstances, seems a bit odd.

Not odd at all. He's effectively hedging his bets if either of those three win. If Lewis or Rosberg win he'd made a decent amount. If the safe bet wins, Seb. He'd make his investment back.

Odd is actually picking Rosberg at all since there are safer bets than him according to the bookies.

Yeah you got it WB

with Nico I figure if Lewis has a chance to win then so does Nico, therefore it makes sense to cover Mercedes, and Ill be rooting for them anyway

I mean odd that it's clearly not a logical bet to cover bases, Nico's choice at least in the context of your bet is also emotional. We'll find out soon enough!

I've also just done a bet! I went into a bookie place and didnt like the man, and the odds weren't good either, not as good as I'd seen at ladbrookes when I looked, but I was putting such a miniscule amount it hardly mattered. It will make the season a bit more exiting anyway....if that's possible. £10 on Lewis for the championship @ 7>1 and £5 on Nico @ 33>1 same logic as Cookie, if the Mercs up to it and Lewis gets unreliability or taken out a couple of times then Nico could take it. Last of the big spenders Whoo that's me. :P

yeah, anyone betting on the assumption that its a calculated speculation leading to profit is a deluded mug, especially if they do it regularly

Its most definitely an emotional play for a little frisson of excitement to reward me for the patient wait for the first race, an irrational attempt to look into the future and justify it by a spot of pseudo hedging strategy

but christ, its gonna be an exciting early morning Sunday for me!

Man I can't bet money against Mercedes since my brain would refuse to be unbiased about this...so I might as well not bet. Already have a small forum bet with WB reg Button winning the WDC this year...and I love my odds so will keep it this way.

I get my fix enough with our fantasy team and pool. But if I had the opportunity to bet here I might be tempted to throw away a few bucks for the sake of it.

It's just a fun 1-sided thing, if I lose I promised to never post any memes on this forum ever again, so there's no losing position for him....he's not stupid you know. :hehe:
