Merc have only been back a few years. Whats important is not how many fans they had on day 1, but how many fans they continue to convert and acquire. They now have the best fans, those who appreciate the best drivers and best engineers and a bit of heritage (like inventing the motorcar, and the all singing all dancing Silver Arrows) doesnt hurt.

In the next couple of years, half the Tifosi and all the RBR fans will be sprechen sie deutsche

And those (few) fans who were there when the team was midgrid and the subject of many a joke, will nod at each other and smile indulgently at the masses who like to support teams dominating the sport for a straight decade

I'd say the Ferrari fans are by far the most team loyal, they'd cheer for Pastor Malodorono if he raced for Ferrari. Myself I cheer for drivers. I've followed Kimi since his McLaren days, and Nico and Lewis since GP2. Alonso is more recent addition, but in the end those are the one's I support .... makes me a Ferrari/Mercedes fan by default. :wavey:

I followed him at Lotus and even when he wasn't in F1!! Much happier now that he's back in the fold!! :clap:
