The weights make Barrichello's time look even better. Button willneed to scarper at the start, or Barrichello could pip him over the pitstops.

FOTA - crumbling from within.

Max and Bernie's plan from the beginning. My hat goes off to their ingenuity

FOTA - crumbling from within.

I wouldn't go that far, the teams while united under Fota are still competing against each other.

And as for STR not being questioned, they have a different rear wing to RBR

Furthermore, if Williams are questioning the legality of Red Bull... should the same count for Toro Rosso :hehe:

I should say it depends if Toro Rosso get the same updates for the car that Red Bull get.

This is quite a shock about Toyota getting sent to the back of the grid, now they'll have to race without the illegal flexing parts will it slow them down at all?

Geez, brawn are about 5 laps heavier than anyone else. Only Toyota were heavier and they're at the back of the grid now. Man thats quick. Button was 6 tenths faster than Vettel in 3rd, with 15kg (i think its about 7-8 laps) more fuel. There's just no challenge here.

Kubica's time also proves that BMW haven't really got the pace they were expecting. It seems that perhaps Red Bull and Williams have leapfrogged them.

Really in my opinion what will happen tommorrow is, we'll see Button and Barrichello blast off into the distance, maybe challenge each other. Then Vettel, Rosberg, Massa and Kimi will all be fighting for 3rd. Kubica will probably drop down considering his low fuel load. The Ferrari's will have a boost of the start, so it should be an interestig battle to watch.

BTW, I think a lap is about 2kg of fuel around Melboure. Ferrari pretty much always fuel their drivers within a lap of each other. Brawn seem to have done the same. So 2kg of fuel per lap seems a good estimate.

From Planetf1.com

The FIA have revealed that the two Brawns of Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello qualified for the Australian GP with the heaviest weight of any car in the final third of qualy on Saturday.

In a change for the new season, the governing body has opted to release the official weights of each car following qualifying.

The results from Melbourne confirm that neither Brawn was running light to take their positions at the front of the grid, while Timo Glock - since excluded along with Jarno Trulli - out-qualified his Toyota team-mate despite being ten kilograms heavier.

The weighting also suggests that Seb Vettel's Red Bull was more than a match for the BMW of Robert Kubica, as well as the Ferraris of Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa.

Weightings:
1. Jenson Button 664.5kg
2. Rubens Barrichello 666.5kg
3. Sebastien Vettel 657kg
4. Robert Kubica 650kg
5. Nico Rosberg 657kg
6. Felipe Massa 654kg
7. Kimi Raikkonen 655.5kg
8. Mark Webber 662kg
9. Nick Heidfeld 691.5kg
10. Fernando Alonso 680.7kg
11. Kazuki Nakajima 680.5kg
12. Heikki Kovalainen 690.6kg
13. Sebastien Buemi 675.5kg
14. Nelson Piquet 694.1kg
15. Giancarlo Fisichella 689kg
16. Adrian Sutil 684.5kg
17. Sebastien Bourdais 662.5kg
18. Lewis Hamilton 655kg
19. Jarno Trulli 660kg
20. Timo Glock 670kg

@Rev, no offensne, but it's already been posted. 4 post down from the top.

Anyways, indeed if Brawn had run light they would be even further ahead. I mean, 6 tenths between Button and Vettel. Button was far heavier. We're talking over a second faster on the same fuel load. This kind of domination harks back to 2004 when Schuy dominated everything. We could end up in that situation again this year.

I mean, look at this way. If that rear diffuser is illegal and is worth 5 tenths. Button could still have taken pole posistion without it. Thats still we the much heavier fuel load. They're just in a class of their own. The only way Button or Barrichello will lose the WDC is if the Brawn car is extremely unreliable. I'm telling you, Brawn have won this season already unless something dramatic happens.

If the Red Bulls and Ferraris get sent to the back of the grid, Heidfeld will find himself in a rather handy position with the amount of fuel he's got onboard.

And a KERS-equipped start... :D

Nick's race should be interesting regardless - he's starting next to Fernando and he has a habit of overtaking the Spaniard :)

Edit: I'm going to make a top-eight prediction

1. Barrichello
2. Button
3. Rosberg
4. Webber
5. Raikkonen
6. Heidfeld
7. Kovalainen
8. Nakajima

I'm just getting a feeling...
