Cyril if you stick around here your brain is going to expand and misshape your head because these freaks are very discerning when it comes to their F1 and demand the very finest quality in discussion. That or like Cooking apparently is doing, is giving you an unnecessarily hard time.

Is that why your helmet doesn't fit you anymore. :whip:

Speaking of helmets.... I just dropped my helmet off for some graphics work. I'll post pics when I get it back. It's going to be awesome sauce. :D

This is getting good! Nico, the guy that hasn't had a DNF yet, wants 100% reliability. Talk about tipping your psychological hand.
GPUpdate 14:48 – Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg has called on his team to need make sure the cars are 'bulletproof' in the aftermath of the Canadian Grand Prix.

Mercedes looked set for another dominant one-two in Montreal until around halfway through the race when Rosberg and team-mate Lewis Hamilton both suffered a loss in power. Hamilton was then forced to retire 10 or so laps later when his rear brakes failed and while Rosberg was able to nurse his ailing car to the chequered flag, and still take second, only losing out to Daniel Ricciardo with two or three laps to go, it is clear what happened is a concern.

"We need to keep pushing of course and we need to make sure that we are bulletproof," Rosberg said after the race and after extending his lead in the 2014 Formula 1 Drivers' Championship to 22 points.

"I was pleased that I was managing to stay ahead [once we lost the ERS] and OK, one guy got by but I still managed to hold on. However, in hindsight, of course, having lost the win, that is very, very disappointing, definitely, and also disappointing for us as a team.

"We have such speed and such a great car, to not win the race and even just finish with one car and come second is hugely disappointing for us."

"Our ambition is to finish one-two so we need to make sure that we get back there again in the next race in Austria," he added.

I'll have to try to be more clear, I suppose. I was trying to keep things short so as not to clog the thread but I guess that can just lead to confusion. Thanks for the heads up.

The best should have more than 1 WDC?

How comes the current 4xWDC is getting bested by his near rookie teammate

Actually geet, wouldnt it save a lot of typing if you just proclaimed your fave driver as 'the number 2 driver'

This DR/SV battle at Red Bull is bad for Mercedes I think. Vettel will be completely focused and determined to beat Ricciardo and this will propel Red Bull forward and perhaps to even catch Mercedes. The RB chassis is already arguably the best which means they are one Renault upgrade away from a return to the top. If Red Bull starts taking points away from Merc it will take Hamilton alot longer to reduce his deficit to Rosberg.

Red Bull now knows that Merc is beatable. And yes the next race is at Red Bull's home track. Will it be two wins on the trot?!

They had the chance to prove their chassis quality in Monaco but again were nowhere near Merc. Power and fuel consumption was least relevant over there.

Of course this assumes that Rosberg would be ahead in any potential sandwich with Redbull because it would take Hamilton less time to reduce the deficit otherwise. 2.2 races (compared to 3.6) is what it would’ve taken him to overhaul Rosberg after Australia had a Redbull finished between them in all 4 races. Based on current evidence of Hamilton winning more races, I would argue that any Redbull resurgence would have an adverse impact on Rosberg. Ironically we saw this in the end at Canada with Rosberg having to relinquish the lead, although he was limping to the finish line.

The 'when both cars have finished' record between them over 2013 and 2014 suggests Lewis will spend most of the time ahead of Nico. This would mean a Red Bull joining the party will hurt Nico more. However if a Red Bull gets ahead of both then Lewis will take even longer to claw back the deficit.
Assuming Merc stay at the front I reckon Lewis could afford another couple of Dnfs and still beat Nico just by maintaining the same 'when both cars finished' differential
This is actually the best outcome for the spectators, dnfs for Lewis instead of Nico taking more and more desperate measures. So far he has needed a mistake in Monaco, and off track excursion to win.

I wonder why Nico feels that Mercedes needs to give him a 100% reliable car. Maybe he feels he can't overcome a DNF the way his teammate can?
#404318
Ironically enough it would be better for Lewis if the Merc do not become 100% reliable now assuming dnfs will affect both. For Nico he needs 100% reliablity from now to have any chance.

Also it would not do his confidence much good for to be challenging because Lewis has 2,3 or 4 dnfs to his none

There is a lot more drama to come and the best card is to be the faster driver most of the time.

Let's not get over optimistic about the "faster drivers" chances..the faster driver should've won in Monaco and Canada. Lewis is having problems in qualifying, Nico is no pushover and delivering. No one expected him to take pole in Canada, probably not even him. This sharing info thing at Merc is neutralizing the advantage of being faster.

I wonder if Lewis can renegotiate the terms when Merc has all but clinched the WCC saying look, you guys have nothing to lose now it's just between me and the other guy. By then though, he's gotta stay in touch and make sure he's not got more than a 25 point difference. All this begins by outqualifying Nico in Austria...though it doesn't matter much at all there. In Austria the word of the day is "slipstreaming". :hehe:

He just has to be faster all the time, data or no data. Merc have had this data sharing so afr and so far Lewis leads Nico in quali and is a little faster in the race. The faster guy will tend to quali higher and control the race. Its a numbers game and with the amount of races left this is not a time to change the fundamentals. Lewis is faster and shoyuld win even with a couple more dnfs. Ofcourse anything can happen and so its not gauranteed, but as far as i am concerned(and the bookies) nothing fundamental has changed apart from the dnfs and a couple of outlying events.

He should not worry about Nico seeing his data or hiding his speed, nothing can help Nico brake later, use less fuel, skim walls better. It hasnt over the 16 years, why now.

If anything Lewis should be even more confident now than he was after being 25 down after the first race

Lewis has the edge because he is faster and over 14 races that counts
