i hate Toyota, I wouldn't mind them just sitting there, spending loads of money, employing average drivers and going no-where i mean that isn't really hurting anyone. No, the thing I hold against them is that on top of this, they managed to get the Japanese GP moved from Suzuka to Fuji, ruining the Japanese Grand Prix and Fuji in one move

Yes and no... you can't argue we got a cracking race both years at Fuji. Sure it's not Suzuka... but it's not Bahrain, Shanghai or Abu Dhabi either.

i think we've got lucky with the races at Fuji, crazy weather and then Hamilton and Massa going berserk and taking each other out of contention. Under normal conditions, I think that track would be a massive bore and on games, it's by far the worst of the season.

Fuji is a pretty good circuit, it's just unfortunate that it's in the same country as Suzuka. If it was in another Asian country, I'd gladly have Fuji and Suzuka on the calendar.

really!? i mean the old Fuji had a decent corner but that's now gone. the only thing i like about the current layout is the weather

Kubica to Renault

I don't know why, but this development makes me unhappy. Probably because I don't like Flavio.

I dunno, that article states him 'closing in on a move to Renault' as fact, even though the quotes say nothing to properly back that up. Although i would agree that he's the most likely candidate to get a Renault seat if Alonso moves, i could also see him going to Toyota now it looks like they are dropping Trulli.... :scratchchin:

Toyota over Renault? With stabilising regulations, I think Renault will move forward whilst Toyota linger in the same spot, unfortunately :-\

Probably not over Renault, no, but it was just an idea the way he mentioned 'potential' and Toyota certainly have a lot of that, still, after 8/9 years... :hehe:

Can't see Renault moving forward without Alonso, and if he stays there basically isn't room for Kubica i reckon, i think Grosjean is there for the medium-term at least.

Williams interested in keeping Rosberg

By Jonathan Noble and Pablo Elizalde Thursday, August 27th 2009, 09:44 GMT

Frank Williams has suggested his team would like to keep Nico Rosberg for the 2010 season following the German's strong showing this year.

Rosberg has scored all of the team's points so far this year and is in fifth place in the standings, having finished in the points in the last seven races.

The German driver has insisted he remains open about his future, but made it clear he wants to be in a winning car soon.

Williams admits Rosberg is high on the team's list of choices for 2010, but he believes McLaren is also interested in him should the team decide to dump Heikki Kovalainen.

"He is very much on our list," Williams told AUTOSPORT. "I would have thought he must be on the McLaren list if they do drop Kovalainen, and I think Norbert [Haug] would love a German driver. We will see."

He added: "Nico is, on any three or five lap, he is the most exciting driver on the track. He digs himself out of some holes that we put him in some times - comes by three places up at the end of the first lap.

"He is single minded, chirpy, a little arrogant which is good – he is always very good with the promo people, never an objection, he is very good."

Williams said a decision on drivers is weeks away, although he conceded the market is very open, making things more difficult.

"It won't be months away, it will be the next few weeks where we get one position sorted out and hopefully soon after the second one.

"But I was reading the transcript of the FIA press conference, and agreed with what they were saying: it is a work in progress! I should have just said that – and put a sign around my chest this afternoon."

The team boss also believes test driver and GP2 championship leader Nico Hulkenberg is now ready to make his racing debut in F1.

"He probably is actually. But they have all got to learn. They all make mistakes. Lewis made fewer than anybody else, but someone like him comes down from heaven only once every 20 years."

However...

Head expecting Rosberg to move on from Williams

Williams has recognised the likelihood of losing Nico Rosberg to a rival team at the end of the season.

The 24-year-old began his Grand Prix career with the British outfit in 2006 but is tipped to switch to McLaren Mercedes for next year alongside Lewis Hamilton.

"We would gladly keep Nico, but he will probably take another option," Williams co-owner and engineering chief Patrick Head is quoted as saying by Germany's Auto Bild Motorsport.

German-born Rosberg, the son of 1982 world champion Keke Rosberg of Finland, has scored all of the Grove based team's 29.5 points so far this season.

Williams have changed their tune. Not long ago, Rosberg was being slated. Clearly, the team were sulking over his thoughts of leaving. As much as Rosberg's leaving will be a bummer for Williams, they cannot complain, really. Rosberg has given the team enough time to get its house in order, but nothing serious has materialised. To progress his career, Rosberg has to move elsewhere.
