Yeah Paffett. Likely McLaren will end up with a short term solution for next year before landing a big name. Had they kept Perez last year, the problem would've been easier to solve and they possibly would've ended up with two exciting young drivers in K Mag and a more experienced Perez. Again it was one of the bad management decisions under Whitmarsh to hastily discard the guy.

Who said they got rid of Perez because he was a cocktail to work with

I'm sure they'd worked with a cocktail that brought homes points. Additionally, I love the attack on Perez and how he was removed from the team for under performing while the Kimster gets a pass for what's the word for worse than under performing?

The consistency of vomit the sport of F1 has.

Joe Ramirez said he'd heard he was 'a cocktail to work with' no connection with the reason he was fired.

If he was that much of a cocktail, how do you know that it did not make the decision easier for the pay masters.

I don't. I don't even know if he was a cocktail, I was just passing on something I read.

Since when were Perez and Kimi on the same team? :P
Because IF they were on the same team that that happened,
you could complain about inconsistency. Otherwise, it's just
a different way of managing different teams!

Sagi, you do know that Perez was a Ferrari academy driver right? and you must know Perez was originally feted to join Ferrari except Luca deemed that he wasnt ready? and I bet you didnt miss the fact that Kimi is not an academy driver. By now you might even be starting to see how these drivers and teams are interconnected. So Perez and Kimi are not in the same team true
However can you see how it could appear inconsistent of F1 policy makers (up and down the grid) to keep Perez from the Ferrari seat, sack him from McLaren, yet keep Kimi in magnums despite it being obvious to everyone that Perez didnt do badly at Mac and indeed would be doing better at ferrari now than the hapless Kimi. Perez has nearly double the points Kimi has managed this season

So looks like he could be having the last laugh on Ferrari, who you might have worked out by what I said earlier, rejected him for the seat and busted the budget to snatch Kimi away from Lotus - great bit of business even if they end up paying him another 10 mill to leave at the end of 2014.

Perez is probably on less than 1 million

its fun being sloppy with the facts, and I can always plead a mea culpa later

Oh, golly, Cookie!! Thank you from the very bottom of my heart!!

If it wasn't for your heightened sense of indignation when you believe
there is some sort of conspiracy in the making, I don't know what we
could ever possibly find to talk about!!

Sagi, its those with a heightened sense of indignation when they believe there is some sort of conspiracy in the making who are gonna keep you safe in your bed at night when the really awfully mean and bad people micro chip everyone and turn your paper money worthless overnight.

Best not to go into a rant about it on the Mac thread tho :hehe:

Forget Perez, it's Whitmarsh and to a certain extent Jenson we should be discussion here. Still no sign of former. Perhaps when he finally crawls out of his boothole he'd care to explain why he handed a £16M + contract to a guy who was quite clearly not fit to lead the team. Boullier and Ron are no fools though. They will make the necessary changes to bring the team back to where it should be.

Apparently Bottas is now in the frame to partner Mags, interesting take on the situation from the judge

It was bound to happen. Initially they chased Alonso, then Hamilton was mentioned, next on big Ron’s bucket list was a young German who is receiving a spanking this year from Colgate boy. Now Big R and his side kick Eric are looking at chisel jawed Bottas as the most obvious replacement for Button.

It would seem that when the CEO of Santander made his comments about the marketing value of middle aged Jenson, he was being very astute in his observations. The surprising thing for most neutral observers is that Honda doesn’t want to keep him. After all, he has the Japanese girlfriend and he would appeal to the older generation who buy Honda by the truckload – the senile and retired.
