I`m a huge fan of his.
Not only a great player but also a real bon vivant.
And IMO, he`s the 3rd best player ever after Pele and Garrincha.
I know I havent seen enough videos of other players...but still....

He was an attacking midfielder is that agreed? I certainly think Maradona, Zidane and Sócrates were better players in his position. Sócrates is definitely arguable, but then he's one of my all time favourite players so i might be biased.

Maradona was far more technically brilliant that Best. IMO. I think Messi is too for that matter.

As for Zidane, i think he might well be the most complete football player ever, despite his temperament.

Without digressing too much, i'm not even considering players in other positions here! ( van Basten, Zico, Rivaldo, Maldini, Rivelinho, Ronaldo (back in his day anyway!), Weah, Bergkamp, Jarzinho, Eusébio etc)

Don't get me wrong, i think George Best was an amazing player but not really a close contender for the best ever.

That`s not the way I rate the best players at all.
Zidane was GREAT, no doubt about that, but, well...he had kinda gangling style...I don`t know how to explain exactly...
Among these players you have enumerated, I think only Maradona could match Best when the question is "gifted footbal"
And George Best is not rated like he should be, one of the main reason is that he had never played a world cup.
