Good win for Lewis today but I would have liked to have seen the battle between him and Rosberg with the German winning (with the F1 pool in mind); but despite Lewis winning, Williams' Valteri Bottas was easily the driver of the day, started 17th and finished second. I'm so happy to see Williams coming back strong again, third in Austria, second in Great Britain, here's hoping for first in Germany.

I really enjoyed the battle between Alonso and Vettel with the added "he did it", "no, he did" over the radio to their respective teams. Great race from Jenson Button also, finishing four after starting third, has to be classed a good result for himself and McLaren. Daniel Ricciardo; he's definitely the real deal; beating his team mate fair and square on the track once again!

Disappointing that Renault still aren't coming to the party. I expected better progress considering we're half way through the season, but they're not playing catch-up at all. The teams making the big moves are those taming the aero on the Merc engine's power.

I get the feeling it's going to be a horses for courses season for who follows the Mercs home. One week Williams, another RB - Force India will pick it up again. Even McLaren looked halfway impressive.

Renault are much better than they have been, Lotus are just bad, and RBR and STR do not really setup for top speed anyway. Compared to the Ferrari that has more output and top speed, it seems that the Renaults power delivery curve and ERS deployment is way ahead. The Ferrari still looks a complete nightmare to drive and torque and power seems to be randomly deployed. I think Alonso is making an even bigger difference than he has done for years and Kimi is showing where the car would be without him

Didn't I hear something back a couple GPs ago that Renault are close to full potential or something along those lines. Well fact is they are way way off. I think this is the best that Renault has unfortunately.

Forgot to say earlier, really glad to see Kimi walk away from that smash, it looked horrific. And full marks to Massa for spinning his car out of the way to avoid a T bone accident.

Got to agree with Lauda on this one. That Vettel / Alonso battle was top class! Skillfull and entertaining. That's what we want to see, not punishment for every little thing.

Why is only Vettel being slammed here? Wasn't Alonso equally vocal and whinging away about DRS usage and track limits and what not?

Yes - but they were both crying like babies.

BUT - to be fair, afterwards they both joked about how much they were moaning on the radio, in the heat of the moment, and in hindsight it maybe was a bit OTT.

It's not the drivers fault....Alonso uses that tactic a lot. He got quali stopped at Silverstone two years ago by crying it was too wet, he'd have gone out otherwise.

The fault is the silly rules that restrict racing, as long as the silliness exists you have to expect drivers will try to exploit them to their advantage,

I half expected the gremlins to get to Hamilton's car and to see Bottas win the race!!

Sounds more like a wish than a half expectation. Like I wished that Alonso would keep his position because I though I had him in fifth for the pool but I expected Vettle to overtake him... As it turned out, I had chosen Vettle for that spot. :hehe:

The DRS what an I have no clue moment what he was talking about. Perhaps he thought like Ferrari has had DRS issues in the past where he was able to deploy it when he shouldn't have. That Red Bull had that same... "problem". :hehe:

But Vettel, lap after lap was over the line and apparently Charlie had warned the drivers not to exceed the boundaries of the track specifically on that spot. So although I applaud the choice to let them race, the inconsistency in how the rules are applied is baffling. Let's be honest though, 3/4 of the fun in that duel was listening to Vettel's radio comments. If only Alonso had just stayed quiet and let his driving be the only statement necessary. It was the second best example of defense of a position this year.
