It seems in wooing Merc F1 could be giving them the same kind of 'help' Ferrari have traditionally got, and RBR have more recently got.

Maybe if Nico hadnt told Seb the FIA who knew of the tests would not have 'sent this' to the 'independent tribunal'. Maybe we would never have heard of it.

Now RBR are kicking up a fuss, there is suddenly an issue. Anyone thinking this is what it appears has to look at the history of F1 and the special arrangements and 'help' any team needed for the 'show' has received. And how other teams get it in the neck, like Williams got shafted and even Mclaren got shafted by the powers

We know Merc had to be seduced into committing for a long period, they are one of 3 engine suppliers. If they got a heavy and humiliating sanction they have the engine supply card. And Concorde is not signed

and Bernie is about to get his pants pulled down by the German courts and we know what Daimler have said about paqrticipating if that happens and bernie remains, yet CVC recently appeared to say bernie could stay regardless, and the IPO is on again?

Its silly not to consider some outlandish outcomes from all this as truth will likely turn out crazier than any fiction the status quo F1 followers are buying into

How is this for a story. Merc get ripped a new one. They decide to leave F1. Sell the team to Brawn for a quid. Next years car is the class ofcthe field, with a suddenly rushed out Honda engine. Honda buys the team at the end of 2014 as world champions.

Now that would be ironic... but like you say, if nothing was 'illegal' about the test, why all the secrecy? it just doesn't add up!

I'd say there is more chance of Michael Schumacher returning to F1 in a Ferrari than that happening!

The secrecy could be argued as a comercial issue. So Merc could easily say the test was for pirelli and outside all its sponsor obligations, therefore they had no valid reason to publiscise it at all. That would be down to Pirelli.

As for the drivers helmets (the protective headgear) , Merc can just say, we cannot use the normal ones cos they have the sponsors logos on them and we were working for Pirelli so plain helmets.

Merc can get away with this in any court except the FIA Mad max kangaroo type.

And they must have reckoned on Todt keeping his word and making the process more transparent. Imagine that terrorist guy who hacked the soldier to death on the street in London. When the police were asked they said they had 'a guy in custody that they had reason to believe had commited a crime'

If they had messed up the arrest procedure or forgot to read him his rights etc, a smart lawyer would get him off the charge (maybe an exaggeration but you can see the point). The FIA , by sending this out to a legal independent tribunal are basically giving up their power to make arbitary interpretations of the spirit of the law and instead all Merc have to do is to exploit the loophole that must exist in the procedure leading to the test.

And there is no way they did not know exactly which loophole(s) they were exploiting before hand

This is just to apease RBR

What strikes me as odd about this 'secret' test. Well a lot strikes me as odd actually.

Brawn said from the outset of the saga that it wasn't secret.

How do you hide two F1 cars and all the paraphernalia that goes with it? And there were photos on the web.

And finally, the blabbing. It was immediately suggested that it was Lewis( some people just can't help themselves can they :hehe: ) but it wasn't it was Nico. Now had this really been a secret , then yes, maybe Lewis would be the one to let slip. Heart on sleeve, can't lie, says things as they come into his head. But it wasn't Lewis it was Nico. I'm not suggesting Nico lies but he's a canny character, knows the score, understands media( and won't play their game)he would know if he had to remain quiet. So that is very odd to me.

Well to be honest Mercedes are denying it. So I don't know. It's all over different sites that it was him but ......you know the media.

Look out the holy one may be less holy than you think!

Let's get one thing out of the way first - there has been a lot of talk about the Pirelli tyre test my Mercedes team did last month, in which I was involved.

Lewis being the holy one, I'm not insinuating you're the holy one RC :hehe:

Unless RC is Lewis in disguise.....
