Christian Horner is a f***ing hypocrite...Months of bitching about Mercedes testing and they do it...

The difference being the car is their 2011 model... NOT this year's...
AND, Sebastian BUEMI, their TEST driver will be at the wheel NOT Vettel NOR Webber.

Besides which, I'm willing to bet that FIA representatives will be present as well as the media!

Yeah but Red Bull spent all that time bitching about Mercedes doing a test on their own and Red Bull have just pulled a page out their own book. I'm sure the FIA were going to clamp down on these specific tests...Hmmm

Granted!! BUT, keep in mind that Red Bull is "advertising" this testing in advance!!
We didn't find out about the Mercedes testing until it was done!

From what Ted said on Sky it's been arranged for ages but its only come to light now. I don't think RedBull have voluntarily given this info up......

The RBR test is legal in every way with no room for any dubiety over it. What he (rightly) questioned was the legality of the previous test - this test is perfectly legal. How exactly is this being a hypocrite?

There have been quite a few people in these forums and elsewhere accusing the team of deliberately short-changing Webber and thus contributing to his rather frequent KERS and other technical car problems. Apart from the fact that I'll never believe that either Horner or Newey nor anyone else in the team will such a thing, such a conjecture makes no sense. It is in Red Bull's interest to win not only the WDC but the WCC as well as soon as possible every season so that Adrian Newey can be released to start working in earnest on the next season's car. With the whole set of new rules coming in 2014, this factor is more important than ever in this season.

That being the case, they will want Webber's contribution towards the WCC as much as Vettel's. Giving the former a dud car is not the way to achieve that goal.

Some jerks were saying that McLaren were deliberately screwing Hamilton last year... this is a similar sort of thing. It's all :bs:

According to Whitmash their car was not so good last year, it was Hamilton flattering the car. This year it's being driven to its potential.

I don't believe for a second any team would throw away points. We'll unless Flavio is involved.

Last year Lewis scored 4 wins to Jenson's 3. It's not just Lewis' exit that's changed, believe me....

Last year Lewis DNF'd out or was set back out of half the points that Jenson got. Sometimes a driver is clearly head and shoulders better than his team mate. If Webber and Vettel haven't fully illustrated that to you, then you're not paying attention.

Irrespective of the relative merits of their teammates, I do not think any team would be prepared to deliberately lose points from either driver. Despite all the celebrations going with it, a WDC is really largely accredited to the driver that wins it, whereas a WCC psychologically includes all concerned - both drivers and the whole team. Even if a team cannot win the WCC, maximising team points if only to come ahead of some other middling team would mean a lot to morale - and perhaps financial implications.

Lewis got robbed of 3 wins....Singapore, Abu Dhabi and Brazil, from which Button benefited in Brazil. Corrected score according to driver performance through weekend should be 7-2. But we just see how amazingly fortunate Button always is in looking so much better than he really is. To me he's been the luckiest driver in F1 history by far, even taking Vettel into consideration.

Thanks.

Before patronising me in this odious manner you sometimes adopt, can I prevent an unnecessary and tedious trip down this EXCEEDINGLY eroded thoroughfare? I know Lewis retired from this race and that race, and all those points were lost, and he was often faster than Jenson, etc, etc, etc blah blah blah and all that :bs:

I know.

However, I said it is NOT just Lewis' exit that has cemented McLaren's fortunes this year. It was clearly not ALL Lewis in 2012, because Jenson scored wins too. So the suggestion that McLaren plummeted because Lewis left is ludicrous, no matter how wonderful he is.

:clap::clap::clap:

That's something that many people here just don't seem to understand, there were many circumstances that caused McLaren to have such a poor year, Hamilton leaving is but one of them.

That's quite true. I expect that running an F1 team, even (or perhaps especially) a successful one would be hectic for the admin team. Even a relatively minor staff member leaving could cause some disruption; a leading driver jumping ship would have caused quite a lot of it. That would be one of the main reasons that Mclaren are struggling right now.

I expect the same thing will happen in Red Bull when Vettel leaves them for Ferrari in 2016.
