I'm not so sure Jenson really held Lewis up, overtaking is doable this year, if Lewis was clearly faster he could've got past.

There's no point in blaming Jenson anyway, if McLaren don't tell him to move, he's not going to move out of the way. You might as well blame Petrov for holding Alonso up last year.

I'm pointing out there are downsides to having team mates race and if you take that strategy you need to live with it, it does seem a shock to f1er that Jenson is racing Lewis. I am also suggesting it would be easier for Lewis if he didn't have to race Jenson. Not implying thats a new thing, but prehaps this is the first time thats really come up in a thread (since Lewis and Jenson have been teammates).

And yes it would, it comes as arrogant and a shock, but Lewis has absolutely no trouble in overtaking Jenson and therefore pulling away to find someone else to race with. So many races in 2010 and so far 11 where he overtakes him so easily. He fought back once yesterday and i was like thank god you do have some racecraft, but then was subsequently overtaken again. But with Kers and DRS im not that bothered. Infact since the glory of 2008 ive started to enjoy watching the races as a spectator then a fan. Its hard cause im still a huge Lewis, Kobayashi fan but its so much easier. As such Jenson holding up Lewis, Lewis mucking up at turn 3 first lap and Vettel pulling away in the championdhip doesnt bother me much anymore. But i can understand F1er's sentiment that Jenson really is just being an accidental nuisance to Lewis.

Well maybe some of you including Button are content with Seb running away............I AM NOT............to those comparing it to last year,it's not even close as Seb already has 93 pts and somebody needs to stop him and if you think JB can do it than go for it,but he's TOO DAMN SLOW.

And as far as I know McLaren writes his checks, and if they need drastic measures to stop Vettel than JB needs to get on board or he's just a selfish fool. No wonder McLaren hasnt won a WCC in 13-14 years.

The top three teams Red Bull,McLaren and Alonso all have drivers capable of WDC so it'd be a shame if T/O are used!!

You said that in February this year? So far in this thread youve said Jenson has no chance of winning, and that Jenson should not fight Lewis?

This is true but Lewis did make the mistake of losing out to Webber, you cant blame Jenson for racing for position with Lewis.

This is motor racing not synchronised driving; if Lewis is faster than Jenson, make the overtake; there's no excuse now with DRS and KERS, fours races into the season, no driver should have to defer to their team mate by default, still hundreds of points up for grabs, if team mates are not allowed to race, either drop the WDC or have one driver per team. I hope McLaren don't employ #1 and #2 driver statuses. Firstly McLaren and Ferrari need to make significant inroads into Red Bull's advantage before their drivers can challenge for regular wins and championships!

So using that argument Lewis should've radioed I won't try to pass Jenson, just tell him to keep pushing?

Jenson went on a 3 stop strategy, thats what ruined his race.

Try understanding first they were not racing for victory in the last lap

Button was on a 3 stopper
Lewis had to much front wing and was too fast (his words)
Vettel,Webber and Alonso were running away
Mclaren DRS is set up for more downforce and less drag so is less efficient in the DRS zone


Button needed to let Lewis past himself without T/O like Heidfeld did to Kubi when he won,but Button is obsessed with beating Lewis and only Lewis

You say it was a waste for Jenson to fight with Lewis because they were losing time to the leaders, in Germany 2010, in terms of the championship Massa was taking points of Alonso whilst the leaders (of the 2010 WDC at that time) were quite far ahead. Alonso needed those points to catch up to them, back to the last race, aren't you saying Hamilton needed Button to let him through so Hamilton could compete with those ahead?

If you think letting go of a victory and letting go of 5th place in the opening laps is the same thing, I can't help you.
