The article said once the constructors is sewn up , they'll let the guys loose, which I took to mean the data sharing could stop and they fight all out.....providing no one else can catch them for the drivers...I guess, and if someone can catch them then they'll protect the leader.

Yeah this is the logic I would expect as well. His defence though, is about sharing data all the time so that domination can continue next season and the next.....he has a point but a weak one. But unfortunately for Lewis, still a point.

Wondering what folk think of these comments by Toto. He is suggesting one or both drivers are sandbagging or aborting laps to keep data secret and he's says it's not going to happen. Everything has to be transparent. He also hasn't ruled out a one two situation later in the season.

Sounds like Mercedes Management have thought this through! It also sounds like they're trying to put to rest any speculation that they are favouring one driver by sabotaging the other! I believe their philosophy of locking up the WCC title up and then "unleashing" Hamilton and Rosberg is a wise one. Mind you, I don't think that Mercedes will be faced with choosing between the two, as it would seem there aren't any other teams that are seriously competitive enough that it will become an issue.

No surprise...if Petronas weren't around, maybe Vodafone might've made a comeback.

I was on a terrace near maggots with car parking so it was a case of in and out from that east section. Not so fond of the crowds and mud and rain :hehe:

I m gonna watch the full race again, at what time on the sky did they show you?

Every time I hear Toto on broadcasts where you can not see him I keep thinking "Why are they interviewing Arnie"

I remember going to the race in 91ish and wearing a union jack flag expecting to get on TV. Never happened. And I'm still gutted. I'd have been happy with a helicopter shot.

I think the record for the most number of wins in a season of 16 is easily attainable for Mercedes. Eight in the bank with ten still to go, it's not assured but given their performance, I wouldn't bet against it. The more elusive record is for the win percentage in a season. To eclipse the McLaren mark of 93.8%, Mercedes would have to win every race for the balance of the season.

I wish mnmracer was here to fact check me.

Unless the is the usual mid to end season resurgence from Red bull. Unlikely I know.

It is very likely to happen since at least 1 car as seen the end at every race...and 1 win was lost 2 laps from the end.

They can only get more reliable, although their biggest concern is the number of key parts they might be replacing. I'm sure both cars will get 5 place drops nearing the end of the season and if they navigate themselves well through traffic (as both have done so far) the 1988 record is definitely under threat, win/loss % as well.

Well done so far Merc.
