Lol, like we don't all watch out for our favourites. I do think Hamilton got an awful lot of tv coverage on the track today though, which does help aid my memory a bit. I don't remember many Massa passes

Thats probably because they know if the follow Lewis they will see something happening ;)

thing is maybe massa acomplished his finish the "easy" way but it was tactics and it was clever.
i like massa, he seems like a pretty genuine guy, and is still battling hard despite last year. my worry for him is if he gets outshined by alonso. but what i do think about him is that he will do well given half a chance.

Didn't realise Hamilton was shown the black and white flag today. That is really old school!!!

Strategy helped Massa largely. But he got past Button at the right moment and the Toro Rosso on track.

Red Bull must be pissed off. Their cars hardly got any coverage today. :hehe:

I was thinking the same, we hardly saw the front runners at all. The highest placed driver I remember being focussed on was Sutil and that was during his battle with Hamilton.

Now I know using a good strategy to gain places has exactly the same result as overtaking manoeuvres but I find Hamilton's method far more impressive. Alonso could, and probably would, have done the same if it wasn't for his car issues.

KUBICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't remember seeing a lot of Kubica after the first half of the race but, judging by the number of exclamation marks you've used, I'll assume I missed a lot. I spend far too much time watching livetiming and posting in the chatroom. :whistling:

is the chat room busy these days?

it was uneventful, but the driver pairing is quite solid, just waiting for petrov to finish the race and have a good quali.

im still dreading the second dry quali dry race borefest tho!

I missed the first race but for the last two there's been about 6/7 regulars (same entertaining bunch as last year  ) and then quite a few others pop in and out.

No need for him to be outshone by Alonso. So far its been the other way round. Driving wise he can hold his own, mentally he may be more fragile, but he has Smedley to shore him up in that department. Lurve him to finnish higher for so many reasons.

Enthralled fans worldwide watched the action packed Malaysian grand prix yesterday as several top drivers fought their way up through the field from the back of the grid. One such battle included the McLaren of Lewis Hamilton and the Renault of rookie racer Vitaly Petrov, a battle the McLaren eventually won, collecting a warning from the stewards for his trouble.

After making a move on the Renault and taking the place with relative ease as he sliced his way through the field, Lewis Hamilton was taken by surprise when the young rookie took the positon back soon afterwards. Resuming the battle, Hamilton took a little longer to get past again, however when he did so he was determined not to let the Renault back past.

In his determination, Hamilton moved across the track several times, in front of the Renault, in fact to onlookers it was as if the two cars were tethered together. The McLaren would move across and a fraction of a second later, the Renault was right behind him.

The stewards issued a warning saying he was using excessive blocking manoeuvres, making more than the one directional move, however that was the end of it, until after the race that is when Renault boss Eric Boullier, revealed that they had complained during the event and that in his opinion Hamilton definitely did the wrong thing....

"We just raised our point of view. Very frankly, it is very clear in the regulations that you can have one change of direction, so when you do three in a row something is wrong,” he told Autosport. "He got a warning for dangerous driving, but I am not sure it is enough. It is definitely clearly written in the regulations that you cannot do any more than one direction change, and it is something you should not be doing."

Massa has done very well. But he hasn't exactly "shone"... or dunno why, but people dont find his performances (such as today's start and race pace, and his dominating GPs of previous seasons) shiny

doesn't matter, shining or not he's leading the WDC and i think Ferrari have a good solid chance with him. Although alonso has been faster. I think right now the worst for alonso is that he has 3 races = 3 engines. Not good at all. So in the end Ferrari may well have to rely on Massa. Again, no need to have team orders. Don't know if Massa is more mentally fragile though...i dont think so... he finds motivation and he's a battlehorse. His weakness (to me) is inconsistency.

Vettel is strong.

tis no different to Jenson last season warming his tyres on the straight. Its in the braking zones where youre only allowed to make one move which Hamilton did in the braking zone. Besides by following Hamilton Petrov was also making more than 3 moves in a row, Renault boss should realise that before whinging.

What a crock. Hamilton clearly was not blocking, he was trying to break Petrov's draft. Unless the driver in the lead car were sitting backwards in the cockpit, it's not possible that he could match such abrupt juking from the car in his tow.

Besides which, Rinnow has been whining all season that they're down 30 hp on the Mercs and Ferraris and should be allowed some "catch-up" mods on their engines. Are we to believe that we witnessed another Easter Miracle today and Petrov's anemic lump suddenly gained enough guts to pass the driver who's posted the highest trap speeds at every race so far?

I thought Lewis was superb, the only driver that looked like he could make his way up the field.Massa can't overtake well enough to do it.With Alonso having down shift problems that probly stopped him charging as I believe he might of done something simular.

Lewis was very unlucky he didn't score a lot more points than Button and Massa the drive deserved it to.For the others it just fell into their laps.

Credit to the RBR guys they done the job they needed too.

Will be interesting to see the car situation come the start of the european season, what changes the updates make to the teams. :hehe:

pfft, numbers dont lie, the renault engine hasnt gained power, the telemetery would clearly give it away, the renault has got alot of traction out of corners remember

in wonder then is this a case where Alsonso goes out, makes lots of noise and headlines, while massa turns up and does a solid job without making a fuss. i personally prefer Massa, and so far, your right, out of the two of them he is the one delivering!
