But regardless what lewis said about "i belive i could of kept with them" he is correct.

Perhaps, i'm pretty sure Ferrari kept something in the bank though, judging by some of the lap times. They're not gonna have cooling issues at every race either...

Hopefully RB will sort themselves out next time (especially Mark Webber) so we can get some proper action going on in the title races!

Yeh but i wouldn't say Ferrari are dominant its not like last year RBR and Mclaren are almost as quick it was just the middle sector that let them down.

Oz should suit the car more.....and oh god i sound like nico rosberg :( .

Nah, i don't think they are totally dominant either, but Red Bull are the only ones really close to em. McLaren were slow in the second sector, ie where all the corners are... in 1 and 3 their straight line speed sorted them out. So i guess Spa and Monza are the tracks that will really suit McLaren :P I have no doubt they can catch up, but if Ferrari and Red Bull get their special rear wings too, McLaren's life is gonna be that much harder, especially given that they are up against teams with massive financial clout and developmental ability. Not really sure where Mercedes are at, cause they already brought a massive upgrade in between testing and this race! So i think McLaren definitely just have the edge on them... :scratchchin:

Yeh but i think Mclaren are geared up for a development war. There Simulator, CFD, and Wind Tunnel is all going to be calabrated perfectly after the ammount of probe the MP4-25 ran.

Its going to become a development race, and they are by far the most prepred for it.

By looking at the times I think the spark plug started firing again towards the end of the race. It may not have been firing at full energy though but It was.

The cylinders in the engine should be fine. The team should be able to disable or dial back the injector for that cylinder so that excess fuel won't get to the piston rings.

On the pace of Hamilton he definitely had the pace to put pressure on the Ferraris. It is funny though, because we don't know if the Ferraris were running at full steam, I mean look on the time Alonso belted out on lap 45, one whole second ahead of any other lap.

But If we look at the facts:
You'll notice once Lewis is past Nico he is faster/matching Massa's time this would of put more pressure on Massa and with his engine/car issue Lewis may of been able to get past for 2nd.

It dosn't look like Lewis had the pace for Alonso however.

But regardless what lewis said about "i belive i could of kept with them" he is correct.

Nice graph. Lewis (unlike Nico) definitely looks good on pace after the stop. Don't know if he would have been able to pass the cars, but maybe catch on Massa since he had some issues.

The biggest thing with the graph is the 2 low peaks on Alonso's times....... Lewis was near the Ferraris 'average' pace, but if those 2 peaks show the F10's potential when pushing...

Yup. The rest of the teams got no probe and can't calibrate their simulators, at least not 'perfectly'. They are also going to cross their arms and watch Mclaren develop their way into the championship.

Congrats to Alonso, it was a really exciting race. I was impressed all the way :) he was on the pace, minor the Ferrari engine problems, i see no reason why they are not a major threat? I think McLaren did a pretty good job. But Mercedes still surprised me......

All in all 9.5/10

Alonso, 2010 WDC here we come! :D

You are right mate

I do belive what Lewis said also about Rosberg that if he hadn't been held up he would of been 2nd if not 1st.

That sounds more like wishful thinking to be honest. McLaren need to improve their car. It's very clear to see that Red Bull & Ferrari are the top two.

I still think that McLaren did a pretty good job and Lewis did a pretty good job considering what happened during the race. I still think Red-Bull are the main team, Vettel would of won. I think It would of been down the wire, but luck did play a major factor when it came down to the winner. Like the last 3 year WDC winners. But Vettel did a stunning job

ALONSO = GRANDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a perfect start to the season. First race and a Ferrari 1 and 2. Better still Alonso is the winner and he wins his first race in a Ferrari in his first race racing for Ferrari. Alonso will be the next Ferrari legend. And I loved his post race interview. When he said that he drives for the best team in the world. I agree with the man in full. And to add to that I would also say that he Alonso is also currently the best F1 driver in the world.

FORZA FERRARI!!!!!!!. ¡¡¡VAMOS ARRIBA ALONSO!!! :D:wink::yes:

I've finally caught up! I missed the full race weekend thanks to a trip to Leeds and spent a hungover Sunday afternoon watching Qualifying, the race and the forum in quick succession

Firstly, I'm not in the least bit surprised to see Alonso take the win. He's my bet for WDC this year, although I'd obviously prefer to see Hamilton get it. I was fairly shocked to see Massa out qualify Alonso but Massa was far too gentlemanly at the beginning of the race and basically handed the position to Alonso who, in fairness, was miles faster anyway. Well done to Massa! It's great to see him back and driving well, a win would have been the icing on the cake but a podium is great news for him.

Poor Vettel, Webber and Red Bull. Their weekend could and should have been a lot better. They clearly have a very fast car but reliability never seems to be their strength. I'm not sure what was going on with Vettel's pace after his car issues, he was completely erratic until Rosberg showed up behind him. I'd have liked to have seen Rosberg take an extra position but I'm feeling a bit of sympathy for Vettel at the moment so I'm glad he managed to hang on.

I'm a little worried about McLaren's pace, to qualify over a second behind Ferrari and Red Bull is a bit daunting but at least their race pace seems a bit better. That graphic Gaz posted definitely shows Rosberg holding Hamilton up but even after that he wasn't up there will Alonso's pace. Hopefully faster tracks will prove better for them, fingers crossed. Button had a pretty poor weekend, whether that's because of traffic or because he's not yet comfortable with the car I don't know but both him and Hamilton were lucky to jump a place in the pits.

I'm adding Hispania to my fan list! They're miles off the pace, they've had no testing and their reliability sucks but I really want them to do well (I'm British, I think I'm predisposed to like the underdog). It was great to see Chandhok finally get in the car and a shame he only managed one lap of the race but I wasn't expecting much else considering his first drive was in qualifying. Too bad Senna's car couldn't hold out for the entire race but I'm looking forward to seeing him again.

The Bahrain circuit is rubbish, it was rubbish last year and it was rubbish this year, despite the 'improvements' (and I use that term reluctantly). The new rule changes made for a boring middle to the race, once the pits stops were over there wasn't a great deal going on. It's not a good sign when the only entertainment and overtaking possibility comes from a mechanical failure. Still, I enjoyed it, it's F1 after all. But I'll be much happier when we get to a good track.

Sorry about the essay, I've missed race weekends :D

In all honesty Amanda if I was a newcomer to F1 and wathed yesterday's race I'm sure I would have been wondering what all the buzz is about Formula 1 and gone back to watch a exciting game of soccer or even tennis. The "race" sucked since there really wasnt one. I was happy for Vettel until things gone a bit south for him. Happy for Alonso and Massa. Not happy that Vettel wasnt on the podium. Was also hoping that Sutil was in the points at least.
