Well where does it end? for example Mercedes buying out engine specialists in England called Ilmor, aren't exactly in house for any F1 team, including the brackley based team. Do we need the Ferrari mould to be classed genuine or something? Chassis engine all in the same facility?

The operative word is buying as in buying out. Ricardo could tomorrow build an engine for someone else. McLaren do not have the vertical control or integration of a major factor of their business, unlike Ferrari, Mercedes even Red Bull have this.

McLaren are just not on a solid footing, what with second rate lead driver and customer status

Sounds like what Williams is for the poor is McLaren for the rich :whip:

Having been to MTC I can assure you there is nothing wrong with their footing and I am quite confident they will continue to outperform Mercedes AMG customer engine status is irrelevant.

Visiting Williams 20 years ago Im sure they looked solid. McLaren and the MTC have changed beyond recognition in last couple of years. First of all there is a brand new factory attached just for building (assembling) the road cars, like kit cars, chassis plus sales edition customer engine. The road cars are not exactly blasting sales targets so there will be a bunch of workers getting paid to hang around the canteen moaning about no grip

Shaky ground indeed. When you are a customer in F1, the engine supplier has been known to ride your behind with regularity, insisting on certain drivers, certain nationalities, give you the not so best engines and fuel pumps etc. If you go round bad mouthing them could be dangerous.

Just as well that the engine supplier inst also a direct F1 competitor or has reasons to particular want to beat and embarrass you....oh hold on, what does my sig say?

whitmarsh also said this
"I think we have got a very good deal with them, but I think more importantly than that is we have got a good partnership.

I think we got a good deal? compared to an exclusive 'works' deal? or compared to Force India and whoever else they will supply in 2014

Starting next year aint gonna be fun for the McLaren (and by definition Button) fans

I'm not going to bother with you anymore, your disrespectful views of McLaren are pathetic to say the least. Calling their car kit cars? What moron would lower their intelligce to say such stupidity. But saying that you disrespect most things aside from Lewis Hamilton, even Australia.... What was it? why is there so many cities for such a population?
I dunno mate you just have this sour whinging tone going on, you should remedy that go get some sun.

Are you blind, deaf or dumb or just thick? (note to mods I am not calling him these things, just a rhetorical question)

I said McLaren assemble their cars like a kit, which is a fact

You are the one that goes round generalising about other members, moaning and abusing and bullying others

are you pathetic?

Well this is boring.

Well it is Mclaren
:yikes: Im sorry, that slipped out before I could stop it!!! Didn't mean it. lets change the subject a bit and talk about how we think Mclaren will do in the last two races. Will Lewis go out with a bang or a whimper.(I didn't mean bang as in car blowing up )

I think he could do well in USA because its a new track and he learns them quickly.and I do think Mclaren won't want any more unreliability, so they'll be trying really hard.

I actually think it will be quite a sad time on the last race when he does leave.

Dont...... Didnt Mclaren do that to DC once, well not fix his seat in properly at least. Seem to remember him throwing a nut or bolt out the car on the grid in canada and he had a bit of a rough race.

Let's bring this back to something more pressing. Will McLaren be able to claw back into 2nd place in the WCC?

It's not impossible or far fetched, but given Massa's resurgence, given the last race is his home track. Given that they're 22 points behind and given McLaren's reliability of late, the likelihood is slim unless Ferrari DNFs once or twice.
