Ive never had the chance to do something really outstanding, always have a good deed conscious mind when im out and about, specially the old people.

Am joining the Royal Marines, or hoping to, and depending on your political, ethical, social stances thats either a hideous thing or a great thing, cause if i do get in im more then likely being shipped off to the middle east.

I would never say that's a hideous thing. Anyone that wants to help to serve their country deserves massive respect, as they don't do it for the money or the thanks (indeed it's often a thankless task). Awesome stuff, and stay safe if you do get posted to a conflict zone.

Does not have to be outstanding mate just a heartfelt gesture of kindness thats all. The sub-20's temps we had recently killed my car battery (it was old anyway) and I needed few jump starts from neighbors who helped without question. Yet this one day last week my gracious neighbor was not home but a car pulled up in front of the house across the street so I asked for a jump start. The reply I got was "oh we are in a rush as my friend is going out of town (huge lie)" so 1 minute out of their day was too much to ask to help someone in need. It's the small things that count the most and what people remember the most.

Thats a great thing and I hope you get in. Law enforcement, fire fighters and serving your country in some capacity actually makes us of the same mindset  .

In reply to Zurich_Allen and Tex:

Ta very much, but like i said ive only applied, its a long way off until it even becomes a possibility, dunno if you know tex and im sure allen knows but the one thing getting hit hardest in these UK budget cuts (to suffice the recent global meltdown) is the armed forces, they cut 100 pilots out of the training scheme for christs sake, some only days away from earning wings.

So actualyl its probably more unlilely then likely but im still gonan apply, speaking of the above ive already had an interview for the raf but i pulled out of it as i knew my CV wouldnt stand out, it only just scrapped the entry requirements.

My driving instructor has been struggling, while drawing cahs out @ the ATM a lady started chatting to me about driving, I started to compliment my diriving instructor. Next he has a new customer....My deed!

What I'm saying VB is something you do out of kindness, good of heart. There is a fine line seperating the two. Your deed was merely a reference for what you think/thought was a good instructor but was he really in need?

Case in point a few weeks ago I drove past someone walking and continued on but turned around a drove back another mile to ask if they could use a ride, see the difference?
