It's only cos its the off season, once we get back into it, we'll be flaming each other like it should be.

My glass is half full though :D

There's nothing wrong with flaming, it's what adds character the a creme brulee, and keeps the forum active but a bit too much flame and *sniff sniff* what's burning?

No personal attacks seems easy enough for even a bunch of F1 fans to do.

Hulkenberg a threat to Button. Right.

-Checks the 2010 stats for Hulkenberg again-

...Yeahhhhh...Not buyin' it*.

Anyway, Force India would be well advised to pick up DiResta, but as for which of either Sutil or Liuzzi should be ejected...Liuzzi has a contract. So...

*Footnote: I noticed at the end of the season, when the dropped him, Williams made a point of saying they still thought he was championship-material. Which inevitably leads to the question "Why in the name of Mandatory Pitstops did you just drop him?". It's also remarkably similar to behaviour Williams has displayed time and again in the past. Damon Hill, Jenson Button...Is Frank running a recruiting agency for the rest of the grid or something?

You said in another thread you think Jenson is the best driver on the grid, people challenged it, you gave an explanation, and people accepted it as a valid opinion.

Now your making sarcastic comments cause someones saying they think Hulk would be better then Button, and you throw the toys?!

Dont give what you cant take, not everyone agrees with you and i dont know what forums your used to but people are going to rip into your fav driver from time to time and youve got to take it, disagree with it with your own opinion, but dont ridicule it because you dont like it, thats the first sign of fanboyitis

...What in the hell are you talking about? It was Willi Weber who said that apparently Martin Whitmarsh didn't want Hulkenberg because he feared Button would see him as a threat. How is me scoffing at that assertion hypocritical because other people accepted my explanation for considering Button the best? I'm equally open to people's justifications for thinking Hamilton, Alonso, Vettel etc. are better, my point in the other thread was it depends on your criteria. This thread is entirely different, it's about Weber essentially claiming Hulkenberg's presence would undermine Button. Such a notion is patently absurd whoever you are, Button is a World Champion and ably kept Lewis Hamilton, held by many to be if not the best at least in the top three current drivers, very honest in their first season together. If Lewis frigging Hamilton doesn't intimidate Jenson Button, I hardly think a man who failed to best Rubens Barrichello, who Button spent the best part of the 4 years prior to 2010 outperforming, is going to.

Honestly your rant blows my mind. Are you just trying to start a needless fight? It makes NO SENSE.

It doesnt matter who said it, YOU RIDICULED IT.
Are you going to tell me the opening three lines of the first post of yours in this sequence isnt sarcastic?
I dont care what you think about Hamilton,Button,Vettel, my cat, my problem is with your lack of respect for someone else, whether you know them or nots views. If i wanted a needless fight id ask you if you agreed that jenson button was the worst champion in the history of the sport, wouldnt i of? What did i actualyl say in my post? did i attack button, no. So why your going on about that is beyond me, i was explaining to you however forcefully that youd do well to accept others views by countering them with your view that a calm precise driver makes the best one etc, an entirely valid and plausible claim. But. You CLEARLY didnt like it (fair enough) when you heard of this Hulkenburg instead of Button rumour, and totally shunned(as inferred from your sarcastic comments) the idea just because you didnt like it (not fair enough). It sounded like someone trying desperately to convince themselves of something they know isnt true but wont accept, which isnt true because i saw your post on why Button is the best on teh grid today, which was great.

I dont have a problem with anything here, what i saw you post in the another thread about why you support button and why you think hes the best driver on the grid was spot on perfect. But why didnt you use some of that in reply to the notion that Hulkenburh would scare/replace Button? That sarcy reply you gave sounded like someone that couldnt handle criticism. Which you have/and will receive in the future a lot of.

Not only is this way off topic, it getting tiresome. Cut this out take it private, keep it civil. Not that hard.

Careful with the green text :hehe: !

There's no handbook saying you've got to do it right? So why did it rub off so easily.... meh, when in Rome.

Of course it's sarcastic. I was scoffing at an absurd insinuation in the same way I scoff at every absurd insinuation.

No, there's more than one way to start a fight. You posted a needless and absurd attack based on a preposterously shaky criticism.

No, you attacked me. If you criticised Button, and it was valid, I might have disagreed, but it wouldn't have annoyed me. It might have annoyed me if you attacked him, especially if it was baseless, but what you actually did was attack me baselessly.

What exactly would the point in me explaining (Again) why I think Button is the best when that isn't the issue at hand? HOW ARE YOU NOT GETTING THIS? How good Button is isn't the issue I was thinking about when I posted here, it was the idea that Button would be intimidated by Hulkenberg. As I explained later, Button wasn't intimidated by Hamilton. There is no reason to suggest that someone who wasn't intimidated by Hamilton would feel undermined by Hulkenberg, regardless of how good or not Hulkenberg is. Wasting time in that post going on about how good Button is would be at best slightly off topic and at worst pointless fanboy blustering. It was bout the implausibility of the idea that Hulkenberg would undermine Button mentally, and I made that point concisely. Excuse me very much if concision and the British wi offend you.

From what you wrote next, about a "Hulkenberg instead of Button rumour" it's apparent that you are, in fact, just trying to start a fight. NO SUCH RUMOUR WAS MENTIONED. All that was mentioned was that Weber said Whitmarsh felt Hulkenberg's presence might undermine Button or intimidate him somehow. I scoffed at the idea that such a thing would occur. You're criticising me for sarcastically saying Hulkenberg couldn't replace Button and therefore implicitly dismissing him as rubbish. Which isn't what I did, so either you're not paying attention or you're just trying to stir up trouble. Especially considering the needless aggressive way you went about it.

Your entire argument seems to be prefaced on the idea that just because I understand the fact that value judgments can be made based on different criteria, I'm not allowed to disagree with anyone else's opinion unless I do so in a way which leaves the door open to the suggestion that it depends on your point of view. Not everything is based on different value equations. The likelihood that Button would be intimidated is not something where everyone's opinion is equally valid (As the relative quality of drivers is), it's not a value equation, it's a judgment call. My judgment is that based on the facts, the history, the actions of Button and the available info about Hulkenberg and Lewis that the one Weber attributes to Whitmarsh (And for the record I have my doubts about Weber's story) is flagrantly absurd, in much the same way it is absurd to suggest, for example, global warming isn't real because it snowed.

You know why I've not done that? Because I refuse to let the last public word on this be an unwarranted attack on my integrity. Plus I already wrote this reply before you said that.

OK, now you've had your final words; can we now leave it? both of you! After all; this is an internet forum, does anyone really care about words on a screen?

I would hate to have to lock another one of DD's threads because of petty bickering!

Yes, that's fair enough :)
What was the topic of this thread anyway :hehe: !

Something about Jordan and Minardi I think? :hehe:

DiResta! Yay, good to see him getting a chance.

As for the Button thing, if Mclaren have long term plans to keep him I don't see why an up and coming driver that a lot of people see potential in wouldn't be a possible threat to those plans, maybe not next year but beyond.
