I think the key is the word almost, it just seems like he's trying to get an example of Alonso's on track cunning.

Alonso diddn't cause the crash anyway, even if he did lift off, Hamilton for whatever reason got in the racing line of the car in front (Massa) who had pretty clear track position. Some drivers would've left Hamilton room, but Massa has been pretty determined since Germany, he was taking that space.

For me,this post explains the case

I want Lewis and McLaren to win, but not even I can see anything other than he was silly to put his car in that position. :)

He went for it. Ok it didnt work and he shouldnt have done it in retrospect. But I hope he goes for it again next time he gets a chance. I dont want him to change his style, its whats exciting and brilliant about him. Mostly this year he's made up places in the first lap, lots of places, this time he lost out. C'est la vie.

Went for what ?? hehe there wasn't a gap for a beer mat let alone a car :) I know what you mean though I love the driving style aswell. :hehe:

 Then you know what he went for! :P

The only person's who's opinion really matters in this case stated it was his fault. Anything beyond that is conjecture at best and pot stirring at worst.

Even if Alonso had the mind to do it, it's racing, it's the guy behind that has to keep an eye out for what's in front.

No poo!! Why do all the 'sack hangers' think they know the actual truth when all they have is their opinion which is 99% based upon the biased UK rags???

WTF is that dude?

Over your head once again I see?? :hehe::wink:

I don't really get the comments that he was being overly aggressive or anything:

He was following the line Alonso was taking but Alonso was able to get himself in front of Massa who had to drop back slightly. Being on the racing line does not give you any privilege in turning into any corner and both Hamilton and Massa were fair to each other in a tight situation, this was nothing to do with trying to take position at the chicane, it all started much earlier than that with Hamilton following Alonso round the outside of that fast right hand turn. IMO that's where his mistake was and it wasn't due to being too aggressive.

Yes, the line ALonso took was the racing line, and Hamilton got himself in that, problem is he should've worked out (IMO and Brudnel's as well) that Massa was going to take that same line, and Massa had clear track position (ie not side by side), what happened was exactly that, Massa took the line and tbf to Massa, he probably diddn't know Hamilton was there and Hamilton took a risk by trying to get Massa to give him space where Massa wasn't obliged to.

Simply amazing that a simple racing incident can last 3 pages. Massa was in front so the line was his too choose enough said  .

It was a racing incident but no harm in discussing it eh??

The article does not want to simply discuss it. The article wants to put the blame on a driver 2 positions ahead.

Now, let's hope Alonso can work his magic and get Vettel to squeeze Hamilton as well in Singapore. Should be easier than Massa...

You've read the article?? then Im suprised at your analysis  you've missed the point. No way does Hughes put any blame on anyone, he's analysing the top 5 drivers skills and comes out on no-ones side.
