The Irish get it too to be fair, i remeber Irvine getting some headline about "Eddie could soon be the newest British world champion"

then after "northern irish driver Eddie Irvine missed out on the championship to Fin Mika Hakkien"

I'm Half Irish so it was funny watching that side of my Familys reaction.

But on a serious not there was abit of sectarianism because of mix ups with flags on podiums.

I just find it ridiculous because most English people don't have a problem winning or losing under the British flag. It's the press that feels the need to make a distinction in times of triumph or failure.

Or people are being oversensitive and picking out quotes to suit the arguement. maybe some presenters always say British and maybe some presentes always say England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Island.
I use British and English, Britain, England and Uk, to describe myself and my origins. In some sports we compete as England and in some sports we compete as Great Britain. Im proud of both. I like England to win (in things like football and Rugby where Gb is split up) and if England go out then I want another part of the UK to do well. With sports where we compete as GB, thats what I think of the competitor as.
I cant understand the deal made over this.

It's actually not a myth, it's a significant trend. Nobody cares as much as they like to imply though. Because most people don't care what the press say.

So\you think journalists have made a pact. If a guy'girl wins he/she is English. If he/she screws up then its British. And if they come from anywhere else in the UK then its vice versa. Do they have to sign up to this pact when they start work? Or is it just a coincidence that all journalists think as one?And all journalists/commentators must come from England for this to work. Its a big ask on a reporter to remember this etiquette in the heat of reporting an exciting final or showdown. I can just imagine it.

"And Hamilton makes it two!! A British driver becomes world champion again. And what style that was won in. A supreme demonstration of driving skill. Er let me just correct that..sorry, English, he's English  "

You're a teacher right? Surely you know the difference between a trend and a pact? There's no implication in what I wrote of a conscious group decision. It's just something which the journos all tend to do, probably without even being aware of it.

JensonB you know when your making a point like the one you made above.

Why don't you try to make it a little less agressively and then people would think more of you.

Its a good point but you come across so very very angry.

Lol,he will be even more angry when his man is getting his bottom handed to him every couple of weeks,it's going to be fun watching it.

JB will do his job in helping McLaren but anything else is a pipe dream.
