My friend and I were discussing last night what we would do if we caught a rapist trying to **** someone.
Interesting.
Interesting.

I want to correct my earlier statement. According to Cornell University Law School:California's statutory **** law had its origins in the Statutes of Westminster enacted during the reign of Edward I at the close of the 13th century (3 Edw. 1, ch. 13 (1275); 13 Edw. 1, ch. 34 (1285)). The age of consent at that time was 12 years, reduced to 10 years in 1576 (18 Eliz. 1, ch. 7, § 4). This statute was part of the common law brought to the United States. Thus, when the first California penal statute was enacted, it contained a provision (1850 Cal.Stats., ch. 99, § 47, p. 234) that proscribed sexual intercourse with females under the age of 10. In 1889, the California statute was amended to make the age of consent 14 (1889 Cal.Stats., ch.191, § 1, p. 223). In 1897, the age was advanced to 16 (1897 Cal.Stats., ch. 139, § 1, p. 201). In 1913, it was fixed at 18, where it now remains (1913 Cal.Stats., ch. 122, § 1, p. 212).
So 18 is the age of consent and was at the time of the crime, despite what many journalists are saying. Not that it really matters anyway. He is a sick and perverted man. He fled because he KNEW he would have been found guilty, off with his head and I mean both of them!!
Technically that's incorrect. Polanski made a plea bargain and expected to only get probation. Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney David Wells apparently intervened with the Judge (Laurence Rittenband), he believed Polanski was being too cavalier about the charges (using recent photographs of Polanski in Munich with two seemingly underage girls as evidence) and suggested he serve time. It was after hearing this that Polanski fled, fearing that he would face time in prison, which I personally believe he deserved.
It is interesting why the Swiss authorities only arrested Polanski a few days ago when he's been in Switzerland on numerous occasions over many years. Clearly, there is something else going on here.
Regardless, though, Polanski has nothing to complain about. He pleaded guilty the absolutely heinous crime of paedophilia, but has evaded the law ever since. If anything, he deserves more punishment for that. It's what would happen to other people.
Polanski being a talented director, Holocaust survivor, and an old man has nothing to do with things. Everybody is meant to be treated equally under the law. Still, it's not unsurprising to learn that Polanski's fellow fashionable liberals are calling for his release. Would Martin Scorsese want his young daughter to have to pose naked, be drugged, penetrated vaginally and anally, and given oral umpalumpa by a forty-four year old man? Doubtful. The whole lot of them disgust me.

Amen!
Ive only just seen this. Roman Polanski??? I cant believe this. he's a victim.
Anyone hear that old joke "I like my women like my whiskey, 12yr's old"!!!
What is the fuss about....he is a perverted sociopath who evaded his punishment? He deserves time.
"1st Josh, could you have found an uglier shot of me? 2nd When U wrote "for the record,Polanski copped to unlawful intercourse with a minor (as opposed to ****)..." did u mean we should think that it's LESSER than ****? sorta like asking Jeffrey Daumer if he MURDERED his victims or was just trying to make ZOMBIES out of them as he "copped" to doing..let's see..43 year old Director Roman Polanski put his ***** in a 13 year old girls ****** and then her ANUS after he gave her drugs and alcohol, while she was telling him to STOP..hmmm that's a tough one.."as (opposed to ****).." Have we really gotten so STUPID and TWISTED that we care what the CRIMINAL says he was doing? and do we REALLY think a 45 day stay in jail makes up for RAPING a child? Polanski was afraid he wouldn't get a FAIR TRIAL? hmmm ISN'T THAT WHAT ALL CRIMINALS SAY? I'm going to go bang my head on the floor..makes more sense than defending a RAPIST."
Chris Rock and Jay Leno proved last night that not even Roman Polanski's recent extradition-fighting arrest is too taboo to joke about.
"This Polanski thing got me, man," Rock said. "What the hell? People are defending Roman Polanski 'cause he made some good movies?"
"Yeah, I don't get it," Leno added, before Rock continued on.
"Are you kidding me? He made good movies 30 years ago, Jay. Come on! Even Johnnie Cochran don't have the nerve to go, 'Well, did you see O.J. play against New England?' "
His incredulity didn't stop there.
"What the? Come on, man, she's 13. Thirteen! I've seen some hot 16-year-olds that look 18, 17[-year-olds] that look 18...Thirteen is 13. Nobody gets away with having umpalumpa with a 13-year-old."
He even went so far as to summon the word on everyone's mind—everyone, that is, but the California legal system.
While Polanski originally faced charges of **** and sodomy, he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of unlawful umpalumpa with a minor. He fled the country before sentencing.
"I mean, come on...****. It's ****," Rock said. "****'s number two. Okay, it's murder, then ****. It's number two. In the United States, we want to capture Osama Bin Laden and murder him. We're not gonna **** him. That would be barbaric!"
Plenty of Hollywood stars initially sided with Polanski, seemingly forgiving him for plying a 13-year-old with champagne and Quaaludes and then having unlawful umpalumpa with her simply because he knows his way around a video camera. But Rock and Leno are the latest in the increasingly vocal opposition, joining the likes of Alley, Jewel and Sherri Shepherd.
Even some of Team Polanski's most ardent backers seem to be stepping back from their initial rush to his defense. This week, Poland's prime minister and French officials both urged supporters not to lose sight of the gravity of the charges he faces—namely, having umpalumpa with a child—in their arguments to free the 76-year-old filmmaker.
