I wouldn't say Vettel has proven better. He needs to work on his racecraft and patience...

Vettel's racecraft will mature with more experience, Schumacher had a spell in 1992 when he made lots of mistakes where he had run-ins with Senna, damaging noses and then developed a bit of a habit of taking off Stefano Modena.

Yeah. His lack of consistency owes a lot to his hot-headedness (This was also Hamilton's major failing in 07 so it should fade with time at the front) and his propensity for sulking when things don't go his way.

I think Vettel has made a mistake for extending his contract with Red Bull till 2011

Why? I'd personally be amazed if they weren't consistently up there for as long as Newey stays.

I agree. Red Bull are losing ground as we speak.

Their major advantage is their diffuser, next year this advantage will be gone as other teams catch up.

I hope Webber can 'make hey while the sun shines'

Vettel will have more chances in the future

Huh? Look back to the start of the season and see that they were right up there, fighting for podiums and wins, with no double-diffuser...

Really, I would have just thought, anyone would like to go to Ferrari if they had the chance like he probably will.

Either for the right reasons or the wrong reasons, I have to agree Ferrari might the the traditional strong team for the last decade...
Vettel could have done things differently by considering Mclaren or Ferrari...

oh, i think i should have my flamesuit on...

Possibly Vettel realize's that BUT since he is barely out of rookie status and as far as I know was not offered a drive with Ferrari or McLaren I think he has done very well for himself. I'm certain that we will see him with either team within the next year or two.

I think during FP2 or Fp1, one of the BBC people said 5 teams approached Vettel before, and it was something like Brawn, BMW, Ferrari, Mclaren...and i forgot the last one...Williams prehaps? not too sure

but i have to agree with what you said where we should see he in a top team in the next year of two...

ps: but that means he cannot beat lewis' youngest champion record...(of course assuming this year is done, and redbull will not be on top next year where ferrari/ mclaren should be up top next year)

I think it's like Scheckter and Villeneuve in 1979, Villenueve was the greater talent but had less experience and fell behind in the points by the halfway point of the season. Ferrari then backed Scheckter for the title as Red Bull should do with Webber in the hope that Villeneuve would get his chance again someday. With Vettel, I'd say it is far more likely that he will get another shot at the title further down the line, whereas for Webber, this may be his chance.

A very good example (though you speak as though Button is out of the title battle).

Vettel will surely become a WDC, but what team is anybodies guess.

I believe Red Bull will be strong next season, Adrian Newey does have a knack of making championship winning cars. I think it's a wise choice to stay with Red Bull for another season, he'll be in a much better position come 2012/13 when he could move up to Ferrari or McLaren. I am not sure Vettel would thrive in a big team like McLaren or Ferrari, he needs to stay in a lower pressure environment until he has gotten more experience. People compare him to Michael Schumacher but I don't believe he is a anywhere as good as Schumacher when the seven times world champion was at Jordan and Renault.
