Let's collect some money together, approach someone like Campos or Manor and get Sam into F1 straight from Karting. Seems like it could be possible :P

Maybe if we fork enough together we could start an F1 team and Sam can be the number 1 driver with a random forum member being drawn as his team-mate (subject to a car shake-down test successfully completed without beaching the car in the gravel trap :hehe: ).

How could we choose? Draw straws?
Who would sponsor us? :P

Yeah, drawing straws or musical chairs would be a good way to decide. :P

We could make up sponsors if we ran short of ideas. :hehe:

Should be you or billindenver or bud. You seem to have raced something before... to my knowledge.

I wanna be the Prinicipal. I would be like the Mickey Goldmill character from the Rocky Films.

Anyone tried to compare Brendon Hartley with Jaime Alguersuari?

I am not too familiar with BH, although i think he picked a wrong time to concentrate on his own racing..tough

yeah i'd been cheesed if i was hartley atm

Well Hartley can get out of this situation with some respect, Alguersuari will probably do terrible due to a lack of experience and a bad car, eventually get dropped and lose any chances of another F1 ride in the future. STR may have had an under-performing Bordais, but at least he had experience and could help them develop their car, now they have two kids with very little racing experience and virtually no Formula 1 experience, Hungary is going to be a disaster for them.

has Alguersuari even got a super license? Atleast Hartley does!

Indeed he does. You can't be a registered F1 driver without a super license. Thats why they had problems with Hartley. He had applied for a super license, but wasn't allowed to be Red Bull test driver until it came through. Thus why Hartley only became reserve driver something like 4 races in. Alguersuari was given his super license as a reward for winning the British F3 series.

Personally I'm curious. Whenever Hartely left the role of reserve driver, he came out claiming it was his own decision to leave. That to me seemed a bit defensive, since no one had actually implied Red Bull had outed him. Why would he feel the need to defend his decision to leave.

My theory is, that Red Bull did actually, in a round about way, get Hartley to leave. Then brought in Alguersuari, with the idea of having Alguersuari (rather than Hartley) jump into Bourdais seat. OR Perhaps Hartley knew Red Bull were going to promote Alguersuari rather than him, and thats why he decided to leave. If that was the case, Hartley knew he wasn't going to get a race seat, and therefore saw no point remaining as reserve driver.

I just don't think that Hartley left, and has just missed out on a seat. Surely he would have known there was a chance Bourdais might leave, and for that reason I don't think he just left to concentrate on WSR.
