I suppose it depends on the sea currents etc. The bodies could have drifted for some distance, but they probably narrow the search area down somewhat.

Hopefully it does narrow the search. I dont think the plane disintegrated like the media is portraying it, I think it just fell apart when it ran through the storm. I hope most of the tube of the plane is still intact

Sunday times said it all happened in about 5 mins, starting with the autopilot being shut off, sounds like a catastrophic failure of some sort. The blinding light does suggst an explosion of sorts. Also they had received a message 5 days ago saying a bomb was on a plane leaving Rio......

In fairness, autopilot being turned off is a natural reaction and I believe it is standard operation procedure to take manual control of thrust & piloting if there is severe turbulence.

As for the bomb threat, I heard this too but I have no idea how many threats are made against aircraft in a given time period therefore I don't know how much of this story is statistically significant and how much of it is making up a story out of nothing.

At least progress is being made with the recovery operation. That way we will be closer to finding out what really happened, so similar disasters can be prevented, and the families will have the bodies of their loved ones.

now its being reported there were two islamic terror suspects onboard the flight, giving credence to the bomb threat story days earlier.

Yeah just seen that on the dailymail.co.uk

That news has really pissed me off :irked: !! How about we ship all caught terrorist to the Astrodome so we can have a 'shoot it if it moves' reality show? Hold that thought while I go buy more ammunition  .

I think it's a bit of a non-story right now TBH.

1. The names match, but they don't have dates of birth. How common are the names? For example I know that in London there are at least 6 people with the same name as me, two of which also have the same middle name. [And no, my surname isn't Jones or Smith :hehe: ]

2. How big is their list? And therefore what are the chances of having someone who is on that list (or indeed someone with the same name as someone on that list) also on any flight at any one time?

you have a valid point and i can see where your comming from, but if somebody is even a suspect they should be banned from "all" commercial flights untill proven otherwise, just my opinion though
