Even if it turns out that numerous members of McLaren's senior management (including Whitmarsh, for example) were involved?

If it transpires it was just Davey and Lewis, then let sleeping dogs lie, they paid the price after Australia. To add further race or financial penalty's would be further damaging the sport. I maintain, if that does happen, I would dearly wish that McLaren completely pull out of F1. I would still watch the races, I'm not just interested in the fortunes of my team.

You did not answer my question.

You made a statement, you never asked a question

I think you should look up the definitions of 'statement' and 'question' ;)

Even if it turns out that numerous members of McLaren's senior management (including Whitmarsh, for example) were involved?

That, my friend, is a question ;)

Rather biased one sided article all doom and gloom. Looks like the sponsors are probably trying to scare the WMSC. I don't think any sponsors will pull out for this season and if one did then I think McLaren would be okay anyway! Hopefully the WMSC will find that it was Lewis and Ryan acting alone and that they won't be banned from any races.

In the current climate the sponsers may see it as a good excuse to get out ........ vodafone are not in the greatest of shapes as only last month they shed 750 jobs from there warrington call centre that they only moved into less then a year ago

it will be really bad for the sport if it happens as will a mclaren ban from any races (i will be gutted cos i am going to barcelona) :yikes:

I think Vodafone are pretty obliged to keep sponsoring the team until at least the first 5 years are up but if the team is banned from any races then I'm sure the sponsors will get some money back for those races.

Actually, there are probably many clauses written in to the various contracts that would allow sponsors to break free should their name become tarnished by the team's actions. Similarly, there would be clauses in place to allow the teams to break free should their name become tarnished by the sponsors' actions.

Well, unfortunately for you, your book has no impact on the rules of the English language. Therefore, my question is still a question, whether you like it or not.

Well you are from Bury after all and the wrong side of the Pennines

That has no bearing on what does and does not make up a question. You can't come up with a valid point, so you are now resorting to personal jabs. A spectacular way to go about a discussion.

I'm sorry if this post appears twice I clicked on submit and it never appeard (sp). I am a Ferarri fan ( with a very dyslexic keyboard), but there is no way I would want to lose Mclaren, regardless of the subjective viewpoints of those 'up top' which IMO I think is not about favoring (sp) a particular team I think it is more due to viewing figures and popularity the majority of the time, while Mclaren may think (and many may agree) that there is a particular prejudice against them as a team; or a person within that team, they shot themselves in the foot. I think they have been punished enough, the FIA are trying to use them as an example in an attempt to clean up the sport and make it more honest. Past misdemeanours meant many complaints (Schumi for example) so I think they are using Mclaren as an example.

I don't want to lose Mclaren!!!! :(

Why don't you care how high up it went? Surely the higher it goes and the more people that are involved, the worse it is..? I'd certainly be somewhat concerned if it was the case at my team. I don't see how I could not be.

Yes, it's very important how far up the hierarchy it went. Let's wait until we hear the results of the meeting before we comment.

I agree that it it is important to keep McLaren around, and I'm sure the FIA will find a solution that will keep McLaren around. Whether or not the stories about the sponsors are hyperbole or not, I don't know.

In the meantime, people might want to read up on the argument form "appeal to consequences". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appeal_to_consequences

The dogs on the street know lying has been a part of Formula One since its inception. You could argue about the quality of the evidence for it (which is actually pretty good in several cases), but that's beside the point; it's not as if the FIA actually need evidence which could stand up in a legal system as good as, say, Britain's to punish individuals or teams.

FFS chill-out, I was pulling your leg, but you seem hell bent on causing a ruck.

I don't want to cause a ruck, I want to hold a simple discussion, which is something you seem unwilling to do.
