Don't mean to start anything but I thought that Lewis saying it was a mistake for the team to continue developing last years car in the expense of this years car was a bit disrespectful. After all, it must have played a big role in him winning the WDC.

Hes not saying its a mistake there he's just saying

were slow this year because we spent time developing last years car

He's being political about it but that's how I read it.

"I think we focused so much on last year's car, we maybe left it a little bit late to focus on this year's car," AFP quotes Hamilton.

"It's difficult to say but people have obviously done a better job at the moment."

You missed this bit:

"But despite starting the season on the back foot, the defending World Champion has confidence in his team, saying they can return their fortunes around.
We've got a fantastic team and the guys are working flat out to recover the situation and to bring it back to the top," he said.

good shout .......booyah :P

No, I didn't. My point wasn't about that part, it was about what he said in the part I quoted.

I just think the bad start they've had this season is the price they have to pay for giving him the best possible chance to win the WDC last year and him suggesting that they should have done things differently is a bit silly.

Nope, I don't believe I twisted anything here. His opinion is that they started developing this years car too late.

The fact you take it out of context means you inherently twist the meaning.

What are you talking about? The context was about why they are doing so badly and he said it's because they started developing this years car a bit late and I think that's a rubbish thing to say because everything they did last year led to him winning the WDC.

Please explain to me how that's twisting his words or meaning because I really don't get it?

Lewis will never leave McLaren because they have brought him into this sport, Schumi would never leave Ferrari? It's all hear say and that's what this sport is manly bout. But Hammy is fat too dedicated to the team to just leave like that I assure you. This season is the weirdest season I have ever seen :hehe:

Everton Football Club brought Wayne Rooney into the sport. Look where he is now, Macnhester United, even though he loved Everton when he was a kid. He even kissed the United badge when he scored against everton.
Anyway, my point is, anyone can change their views, feelings.
And can you really compare Hamilton with Schumi already?
And Hamiltons dad is the one that brought him into the sport, not Mclaren ;)

'Hamilton's future at McLaren is on a knife-edge'
Tuesday 7th April 2009

Anthony Hamilton is reportedly considering whether he should advise his son Lewis to leave McLaren.

In the wake of the 'liargate' scandal, which saw the near-tearful World Champion offer a grovelling public apology on Friday in Sepang after admitting he misled Australian GP stewards upon the instruction of McLaren's Sporting Director Dave Ryan, The Daily Mail claims that 'Hamilton's future with McLaren is on a knife-edge'.

'Hamilton Snr is understood to be pondering whether to turn his back on McLaren, the team who supported Lewis through the ranks at an estimated cost of £5million, and switch to rivals less prone to shooting themselves in the foot,' the newspaper reports.

'The biggest stumbling block to engineering an escape route concerns where to place Lewis.

'Ferrari are favourites, if he can wriggle out of his five-year contract worth £75m, but they are currently as slow as McLaren. He is into his second year of the deal but various get-out clauses could cut his stay short.'

In his column for The Sunday Times this weekend, Martin Brundle, a former driver-turned-pundit who also acted as an advisor to David Coulthard during the Scot's racing career, speculated whether the details of the 'Liargate' scandal may itself offer Hamilton an escape route.

'McLaren could also now be perceived to be in breach of Lewis's contract for bringing him into disrepute especially as a senior team member has taken the whole rap,' Brundle wrote. 'This would make Lewis a free agent if he wanted to move teams.'

Hamilton junior, meanwhile, is expected to hold talks with the team at their Woking HQ this week.

If Hamilton leaves McLaren, my opinion of him will drop even lower. And I'm not the only one.
