what i was trying to say is the WCC really represents a strong driver pairing. I mean you can hyperthetically have one driver win the world title yet his team mate fail time and time again but the team itself built the best car yet doesnt score the most points required against a consistent opponent due to one driver failing.

But that is the point Bud, one strong driver and one weak DOES make a team average, the team results are a combination of the efforts of all the people involved. If a team has 2 great drivers but a poor aero engineer, or a poor strategist, or a technician who constantly fumbles wheel changes at pit stops, or whatever, the team will suffer.
The team can only be as good as its weakest member. The team includes all of the engineers, all of the technicians, all of the back room IT people and many others, 2 cars and 2 drivers - all 1 team.

i see the problem here the definition of the constructor championship. I think you see it as the team championship while i see its title as being who builds the best car.

as in MotoGP there is the Rider, Team championships.

Ah, OK bud, yes I agree with your analysis, however, because the driver IS part of the team, and it is the driver who demonstrates the strengths of the car, it must be impossible, especially in the way the points are currently scored, to know which is the best car. Indeed, the 'best car' is subjective, because it does depend upon the car being suitable for one driver and not another. An example, in M. Schumachers days Massa used to complain that the car was built around M.S. and so was not right for him (P.M.).
The team currently scores points according to the finishing positions of both cars, and I feel that that is right - its a measure of the whole team. I suppose that it could be argued that the WDC reflects the performance of that 1 car team, so that each 'team' has effectively 2 'teams' - 1 for each car, but then that is still not a WDC is it? Its still the team.
I have no problem with the WDC, as it makes it easier for casual 'fans' to follow, but, for me, the WCC reflects the real performance of the team.
