Hmmm. I would be tempted to put Kubica and Vettel above Massa and Hamilton. They both drove consistently, with few mistakes (well, if we ignore most of the first half of the season for Vettel, though some of those weren't his fault, and he more than made up for it later on), both ending up in places that few would have expected to see them. Hamilton and Massa, on the other hand, were both in the best cars and therefore had an advantage (though admittedly, they used their advantage much better than HK or KR did), and they made a number of mistakes which cost them dearly. That's not to say that Massa and Hamilton aren't great drivers, but I think it's a case of them doing well because of their cars, whereas Kubica and Vettel did well in spite of their cars...

Autosport can't be that biased, (the rest of the UK is though, to be fair), becuase I was reading before they rated Mr. Kubica as the driver of the year in everything.

But I think it would be fair to have FA top of the list.

Going back to a post earlier, "Alonso's win was all luck", i'm sure if you - in his shoes - wouldn't have said that.

SO WHY IS EVERYONE INTENT ON TAKING DESERVED RESPECT AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

I would put Kubica in first he surely deserved the world championship more than anyone else then Vettel mainly for his win in Italy, Bourdais would have done a lot better if not for his luck and then probobaly Barrichello he drove the car off and never stopped trying and scored most of Honda's few points.

I think it is very fair. Cracks me up that the Hamilton fans cant accept it though.

Alonso won 2 races which came down to luck,while Ferrari and McLaren were in the pressure cooker of the title fight Renault were not! sure in the last 6 races alonso might habe scored more but why not include the last 7, 8 or even the last 9 races? There in lies what's important and at the end of the day who was the best driver over the whole season, the one with the most points!

Lewis Hamilton is a farse. He doesn't deserve to be World Champion and only won by sheer luck. Alonso didn't win his 2 titles by luck nor the 2 races he won in an inferior car in 2008. Lewis Hamilton would of won nothing had he not driven for a team like McLaren or Ferrari for that matter. Alonso proved otherwise. Yes we Italians are correct to state that Alonso was the best driver of 2008.

Now let us get one thing straight, I was born in the Balkans thus I fear NO ONE! And regarding Lewis Hamilton, why would I fear him when I know drivers like Kimi Raikkonen, Felipe Massa, Robert Kubica, Sebastien Vettel, Fernando Alonso and Timo Glock are more than capable of beating Lewis Hamilton if they have the cars to do it in. It isn't like Lewis Hamilton is an Ayrton Senna or Michael Schumacher. Not my a long shot!

fact is Kiki if Alonso had of stayed with Mclaren in 08 and perhaps even won the title you'd be going on about him as much as you are about Lewis because he drives for Mclaren.

Fact also is that Alonso is Spanish and a proven 2 times world champion so there would of been far less insults thrown at him than as is the case at Lewis Hamilton. In fact it is also a fact (As I have said many times) that I didn't think that Kimi was ever going to win the WDC in 2007 and that it was very much between Lewis Hamilton and Alonso. Despite both being McLaren drivers and the likelyhood that McLaren was about to win the WDC, I was hoping that Alonso would win over Lewis Hamilton at all costs. Despite a possible McLaren victory, it would of been a lot better as far as I was concerned to concede defeat to Alonso than to Lewis Hamilton. Of course the bonus here was that Kimi of Ferrari ended up winning the WDC in 2007 in the end.

AKR, why do hate Lewis Hamilton as a Person? Did you meet him and he gave you the finger? Did he slap your mother? I can't say that I hate anyone in Formula 1. I have drivers and teams that I like more than others, but wish no ill will towards any of them. The fact is, if there are better drivers out there, someone will loose their seat to them. If there is a better driver than LH one day, he will loose his seat to them. Just because he wins in his second season has no bearing on whether a driver puts in enough time in the sport. If I could have mine now or later... give me mine now. The Dallas Cowboys have enough time and resources and they sucked boody yesterday with a 44-6 loss... They may win the superbowl next year, we don't know.

If you need to be angry with someone, it needs to be at your team for failing you. Granted they can have a bad year also, but they seemed to be trying to correct it with making moves in the organization. I'm sure after next year everything will be right as rain and they will be back on top, and then who will you have to hate?? No one... you Pretty Precious Prancer will be sparkling... Why didn't you want Lewis to win in 2007 i know most of the Ferrari fan's i knew were rooting for LH after

1. Alonso beat Shui to the title twice and
2. It would of been great to see a rookie win the WDC in the 1st year

Also Lewis is now a WDC he has proven himself as good as if not better than Alonso he won the WDC fair and square why can't you just accept that

Hamilton won the title fair and square (and more so) but I still think Alonso is better.
