This is all old news. The special deal was unofficially leaked at the time already - everybody in or into F1 'knew' or assumed as much. So, to get your knickers in a twist about this is disingenuous or shows lack of understanding how F1/FIA/BE/Ferrari and the other teams work and what the interdependencies are.
It's the same principle as in law enforcement: the first gang member to talk to the prosecutor gets a sweetheart deal. Ferrari signed up with BE as the first team and saved F1 from splitting up by recruiting the rest of the teams due to its weight and importance.

That's just the type of post I'd expect from a Ferrari fan.

You can roll your eyes at the truth as long as you want and you know it. And for the umpteenth time for the record: I'm not a Ferrari fan. I support drivers, not teams. And the closest I come to supporting a team would be BMW Sauber.

Regardless of team allegiances I knew about this already as well however it was just a rumor rather than confirmed fact. Ferrari have always been seen as the premier team in F1 and Bernie and the FIA trip over themselves to please them.

The fact that this rumor is now confirmed fact is crystal clear confirmation that the sport is corrupt. Fans have been ridiculed by the FIA for suggesting that they favor Ferrari but I bet now the relationship between these two seem to be breaking down I bet we get a few more revelations that won't look good in the Ferrari PR office. Ecclestone must go, Moseley has to go, Montemozolo has to go and any other corrupt individual that ruining the legitimacy of the sport. There is only so much that F1 fans can take...

I knew about the separate deal Ferrari had with Ecclestone, but I didn't no how much extra the team received.

At the time didn't of the GPWC V F1 war, didn't Williams break away over to Bernie and sign a separate deal to? Later than Ferrari of course, I wonder what their contract states?

F1 werent going to split up they were going to remove themselves from Bernie and Max. Damn shame they didnt succeed! Ferrari benefitted and McLaren have been hounded ever since. Its further evidence that the spygate was one big set up to give the championship to the team in bed with the grand masters.
DD if you cant see it you must have ferrari blood running thick through your veins!

thats f***ing disgracefull

Yeah it is bad isn't it? However personally I couldn't really careless. Nothing I can do about it anyways. That is life I guess.

Yeh each team should be paid equally enough said.

Hey Longbow, I did say it was wrong didn't I? I simply also added that I don't care as there is nothing I can do about it. What is disgraceful about all that? Gee you make me look like a criminal!

Well, it really shows what a disgusting piece of Vermin Montezemolo is. He criticises the sport's authorities and we think we are getting somewhere, only for it to transpire Ferrari has been getting secret handshakes from Eccelestone. Ferrari are Montezemolo are scum.

Correction and BIG coreection. You mean Montezemolo is Scum, not Ferrari. Ferrari is a divine entity, get it right.

Bernie is good.

All he has done is decide to fight back at Ferrari by saying the FIA to favour them, adding fuel to the fire. then Bernie sits back and laugh at how the Ferrari name gets pulled through the mud.

Bernie you are indeed a PR Master

agreed .... the moment bernie saw the f1 teams uniting against his empire, he tried to weaken them, break them up .....

This is rather shameful for Ferrari.

Oh well, it is only Ferrari, most people like me will just turn a blind eye to it and move on and enjoy the coming races.

blind lamb

the stupid thing is its proberly true unless all the other teams gang up and say we want the same as ferrari or were leaving.

that said Ferrari could just negociate an under the table deal again.

i dont know how luca can stand up and say he wants more knowing full well the other teams are paid less. i mean in terms of sporting advantage 80mil is a massive help.

We, the less casual fans, knew about Ferrari's special deal ever since Paul Stoddart let the cat out of the bag. What he couldn't tell us, as a signatory of the Concorde Agreement, was how much Ferrari were given.

Now that we know it's 80 million extra in a Championship winning year thanks to Bernie's outburst we can be rightly appalled by the sum. It's about 1 million pounds sterling a week. That would have saved Super Aguri, for example. & perhaps a couple of GPs.

& however that idea appalls us we are perhaps missing here an important point - now that Ecclestone is happy to bring the details of the deal into the public domain he's either breaking his side of the bargin & that will mean lawyers, in large quantities or, as some have suspected, F1 exists without an agreement of any sort in place.

Thus Bernie may very well have no obligation, right now, to pay the teams anything whilst they got railroaded into signing up for next season unexpectedly early this year.

No wonder they are all desperate to save money/find new ways of earning it/quit before they lose their vests as well as their shirts.

Is it all Ferrari's fault?

Well, no, but a good 75% of it is. F1 had a chance in 2003 to break free from Max's S&M activities & Bernie's interference & didn't take it largely thanks to the efforts of Ferrari. Whoever took part in the decison making process at Ferrari 5 years ago deserves to be vilified by all serious F1 fans. I suggest Luca's in there as is Jean "Napoleon" Todt. & I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Ross Brawn had stuck his oar in either.

I feel sorry for the older, more knowledgable Tifosi. Must be hell knowing your team was/is run by these sort of people. As for the newer, jump-on-the-bandwagon know-nothing so-called Tifosi - they are not Tifosi & never were. Thus they deserve everything that happens to them.

Sadly those of us that actually give a flying you-know-what about the sport don't, Tifosi or not.

I don't know why so many are bashing BE now of all times, for once he's doing the right thing, he's saying it how it is. Montezemolo is in no position to demand more money as BE points out. He was trying to pull some strings which are already very taught. The prize money should be the same for every team, and if this is no good for Ferrari they can pack up and leave. I believe the sport will actually be healthier without these greedy and manipulative "sports men". HA, sportsmen indeed.
