And what do I have that is in denial? That I know McLaren are really greater than Ferrari and I cannot admit it? I do not think so Chris......

I'm not suggesting one team is better than the other. All I'm trying to put across is that Ferrari are not the be all and end all of Formula One. If you really want my honest view, I think Lotus are the greatest Formula One team ever.

Lotus? Now that is hilarious. If they are the greatest, where are they now? Although I don't mind Lotus, I have to say that your McLaren team is far greater than Lotus and McLaren lag behind Ferrari somewhat, so Lotus being the greatest, I don't think so. :D

does saying Ferrari are the greatest make you feel better about yourself AKR?
:hehe:

You don't need to say it. You already know it and we all know that everyone knows it. Whoever doesn't admit it is in denial. :hehe:

I think of Ferrari and F1 all the time and how great both are and how they go hand in hand. It makes me feel good. Sometimes I imagine if I were a McLarenite and just how crap I would feel about myself and how dismal my life would be. :hehe:

The difference being of course, that Mercedes are just shareholders of McLaren and provide the team's engines. Ferrari, however, are owned outright by FIAT and are only successfully because of FIAT's cash. If FIAT stopped supping Ferrari, their success rate would drop like a lead balloon.

We're talking about the scenario when Mercedes buys out McLaren down the road, so your comparison doesn't apply.

I think in the end it'll be similar to how BMW and Sauber handled it.

You doubt it's going to happen in the future? And BTW I didn't bring it up, it was bud...

It's nice to see Forumula1.com's biggest closet Ferrari fan come to defend his team. It's no secret that Mercedes eventually want to buy McLaren outright, but things may not be as easy as that. The Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company have a 30% stake in the McLaren Group and I don't think they'll be looking to sell up any time soon.

Anyway, I don't really see the relevance of your point, for I'm comfortable with the fact McLaren have an element of hybridity as both a privateer team and a manufacturer. The tifosi, however, are in denial that FIAT bankroll Scuderia Ferrari and S.p.A..

No it won't happen

1. Like Mclaren Fan says there's other parties involved so it would be very very expensive and difficult
2. They have enough brand precence from the team as it is.
3. What benifit would they gain from it? they won't rename Mclaren to Mercades so and creating their own team wouldn't give results as good as Mclaren have been getting.

You can't say that.

There will always be advantages to Mercedes buying McLaren, as well as disadvantages.

Ron Dennis is not stupid and is concerned with the survival of the McLaren name. If Mercedes to completely buy over McLaren, Dennis will see to it that McLaren must in the name of the team at the very least, similar to how BMW-Sauber operates. It's also worth pointing out that Daimler own Mercedes and Mercedes' name remains. Mercedes have bought over companies such as AMG and their name remains. It is not a given, therefore, that the McLaren name will eventually disappear.

That's what I was saying: similar to BMW Sauber >>> Mercedes McLaren.
On the other hand, you will never find a name in front (or afterwards) of Ferrari. It is too strong a brand. Its worldwide brand recognition is up there with Coca Cola, McDonald's, Nike, Microsoft, Disney, Apple, Google, etc.

Mclaren is also a very very strong brand who hasn't heard of them as the F1 team and the creators of the words fastest of the 90's early 00s the Mclaren F1

Sauber though is not a strong brand and only people who are fans of F1 would know of them.
