If you want to see overtaking more often, there are two things that can be done. Either, give teams limits on their budget, thus making similar performance levels, or else adopt a GP2 approach and give everyone the same car.

I don't think the solution is even that radical. Here's something I posted a while back on here:

'I think the solution to the problem is very simple: remove all the satellite aerials, solar panels and other contraptions strapped to the side of the cars, leaving only a front and rear wing and barge boards. That would severely chop levels of downforce, make the cars more attractive and reduce the amount of dirty air behind the cars. Bringing back slicks will put the focus on mechanical grip. Together these will be a big help. As ever with the FIA, there has to be red tape and a total lack of common sense.'
Indeed. It's the cars which are simpler and more flowing which look better. The BMW has about 5 sets of wings all the way along it. Madness.

Incidentally, I'm also annoyed that not only are most of the new tracks quite dull, they took the best corner on a fairly meh track (Catalunya) and completely ruined it "to increase overtaking" (Bull) and slow the cars down onto the straights. Remind me, how many genuinely dagerous accidents did we have there in 04-06? Around 0? That's what I thought.
