well in your scenario do you suggest F1 engines to come out of Korea? nice try!

but without FIATs money Ferrari would be long gone. so they are very FIAT ;)

im glad youre a Proud Italian, thought you were Australian ;)

bud if Korea happened to one day design a good engine Ron would be interested don't worry about that.

Like I said Fiat bankroll the operation, they own 56% but the Ferrari machine put it all together from concept to the track all in-house. This is Fact & has been the case since day one.
They don't go down to the local automart to put there car together.

Bud I am a proud Italo/Australian - do you have a problem with that mate.

I respect Ferrari's standing as the oldest team in the sport, their Italian soul and building all of the car. I would be lying if I said I didn't. However, what I cannot stand are the blinkered views from most Ferrari fans about FIAT's role and that Ferrari have some sort of monopoly on history and passion in Formula One. I think it's offensive to the other teams and people who have done so much for the sport, more than Ferrari, a fact which the Tifosi must understand

Is your reasoning that if someone does not agree with you they have blinkers on

No disputing FIAT’s roll in Ferrari. MONEY - this enables Ferrari to do what it does best and its all in house.
Ferrari don’t have a monopoly on history and passion but no other team has as rich a history & no other team operates with passions as one of the main ingredience.
If your offended by this that’s your problem & the NON Tifosi need to deal with it.

Without FIAT God knows where Ferrari would be.

Ferrari use the FIAT cash and do what they know best. Design & build race cars.

Without Mercedes where would McLaren be ??? On there hands and knees grovelling to any manufacturer with a competitive engine.

It's interesting that you say Ferrari don't have a monopoly on passion and immediately say 'no other team has as rich a history...' That, sir, is complete rubbish. That's not me taking the huff for you not agreeing with me, it's a statement of fact.

Unlike the Tifosi I'm very prepared to admit how McLaren operate and acknowledge the role other teams and folk have played in the sport.

Anyway, you keep on believing that Ferrari are the only team to have advanced Formula One and the only team worthy of competing in Formula One.

McLaren would be in the same boat they were in pre Mercedes you know when they won a shitload of championships in that twenty year gap Ferrari had between drinks.

but Mike you still fail to see the significance the FIAT ownership has done for Ferrari dont you, without the buyout Ferrari would probably have not been in F1 years ago. on the other hand McLaren have survived on their own in private hands over the years only recently selling a stake to Mercedes.

Yeah i do when for example in soccer you see these "Australians" going for a country that they have never been to root for them over their own country of birth  I dont go for Scotland or Germany over Australia, guess thats what separates us doesnt it ;)
Also you go up to any Italian/Australian and they will ALL follow Ferrari, now in a way its just a form of Religion being brought up to know nothing else, lack of self thought and self choice in the equation.
Try telling a Christian the bible is false see what happens ;) same thing!!

Oh, can I ask, Mike99, what about all the other folk involved in Formula One throughout the years who were not working for Ferrari. Had they no passion, love or interest in motor sport?

I fail to see the equivalence of these two statements.

I'm well aware of the semantics (and pedantics), D.D.

Don't worry bud I know that FIAT were Ferrari's savoir, but if it was not them it would have been someone else. The Ferrari name and what it stands for will never die.

The McLaren - Ferrari analogy is not a good example.
All McLaren had to worry about in the pre Merc days was to build a racing car & find an outsourced motor to bolt on it.
Ferrari on the other hand did & still do everything in house along with producing road cars.
And this is the reason why in 1969 Ferrari sold 50% to FIAT to keep up with growing market demand. If all they had to do was worry about racing it would have been a completely different story.
If you fail to see the difference, all it is is that you don’t want to see the difference.

Bud to tell you the truth I was rooting for Australia to beat Italy but I was not too disappointed when Italy won. It was a win win situation for me. Italy is in my blood mate and I am proud of it. Maybe the difference between you an me is your ashamed of your Scotland/Germany ancestory ??
I am also very proud to be an Aussy.(Even though I grew up being called a grease ball salami eating Wog)
If you ask me I think we Italo/Aussy’s are the best type of Aussy.

Also you go up to any Italian/Australian and they will ALL follow Ferrari, now in a way its just a form of Religion being brought up to know nothing else, lack of self thought and self choice in the equation.

Its only natural mate, you will find that if someone has a blood connection to something they will be drawn to it.
Like I said previously, with me it in the blood, the heart & the head.
I made my choice on three fronts. And not just beacuse I like the color of the car like some :P
