To be fair, Ferraris blip was caused by Lucas backward arse looking ways, trying to change the rules instead of embracing hybrid electricity - the way of the near future, they are playing catchup on that side of it - however with MM and Sergio - who appear to be a whole new level of thinking - its possible they will make good after 4 or 5 years IMO, they cannot compete with merc or Honda on the engine tech side as it is - they are more geared up to developing by trial and error driving round and round a track at present need new sim, new tunnel new factory, the whole shebang. Alonso would be in a wheelchair before touching a title if he stays. At least at Honda there is a (slim) chance he can win something before he retires

But I doubt Lewis or Nico will be losing much sleep about MacHonda for a at least a year or 2 realistically

Are we in some parallel universe. I made a post about F1 then Cookie and Sagi agreed with it. Lol

Actually...

Looks like Alonso has negotiated himself into a corner! Vettel going to Ferrari with Alonso released and no deal with McLaren. Red Bull didn't want him promoting Kvyat instead. Lauda saying Hamilton/Rosberg for 2015.

What is Alonso's next move? It would seem that Ron Dennis holds the cards.

Hmmmmm. Interesting indeed!

All smoke and mirrors. Alonso will be driving a McHonda next year.

Yes I think he will. But it doesn't look as though he has the bargaining tools to ask for silly money.

Ron has started todays negotiations with

Alonso i will offer you a 3 year deal for 100 million. However i have already paid it to you in advance via the FIA in 2007. Now Ferrari don't want you i am sure you will agree to this deal.

:rofl::rofl: Love it! Wish he would! I'm still somewhat incensed over that fine issue. My Silverstone bamnner that year was hardcore 8-)

Personally, I wouldn't return the call.

1. McLaren lures Alonso about their 2015 Honda engines, etc.
2. Alonso bites intending to race for them next year
3. McLaren tells Vettel that Alonso will be leaving Ferrari
4. Vettel who has always wanted to drive for Ferrari lands a 2015 seat
5. McLaren blows off Alonso who’s now hanging in the wind as Mercedes/Red Bull doesn’t want him

“Hey Alonso, that’s what you get for blackmailing us and costing us a 100 Million dollar fine in 2007; enjoy the golf course pal.” – McLaren

:hehe::hehe: I don't think it's beyond Ron. I'm still convinced he had a hand in exposing ( no pun intended) Mosley for his part in it.

You can nearly say that Vettel has single handily left Alonso in no man's land. With a little help from Alonso himself of course. The more I think about it and more news stories i read. i'm thinking Alonso is not a dead set certainty at McHonda that I once thought about 24 hours ago. I was thinking about 80 to 90% sure he would have a McHonda seat, now i'm thinking it 50-50.

But as others have already said, Ron has the high ground now, whereas Alonso has stuff all to play with. So who knows what RD is thinking.
As Massa said, could be Disneyland for Alonso.

Alonso could still stay at Ferrari and partner Vettel. He has a contract till 2016 which legally has not been terminated. I believe his personal sponsors Santander also pay a huge part of his wages so he still has some bargaining chips left.
