But they are fighting for their freedom so they are freedom fighters. I am sure the IRA have never killed innocent people and are still seen as freedom fighters to some.

Not to me; the IRA are/were terrorists; plain and simple, fighting the regime is one thing, threatening F1 personnel who have nothing to do with the regime is terrorism!

But... all the teams are happy to be there!!! Bernie said so!

Exactly! All the teams have said they are happy to go and race. If anything happens it is their responsibility. They could have easily have boycotted the race and take whatever punishment they get on the chin.

This just sounds like wrong place, wrong time for these guys. There is nothingto suggest that they were targetted.

LOL WORD!! I laugh when people think posting sh1t on facebook is gonna cure cancer

That's probably 'cos the people who write that sort of stuff are total idiots. :hehe:

Am I misunderstanding things here, or did you just say the IRA never killed innocent people......???

Me thinks perhaps there was an air of sarcasm to it, but it was missing the eye rollie smilie.

Given the letter of intention from the freedom fighters / terrorists, I expect more trouble as the event gets into full swing... bad bad decision by the FIA, FOM and the teams.

I'm just waiting for the fall out should a driver get killed or injured... all three parties will be to blame, taking the sport into an effective warzone!

The media will be having a field day. In fact, can we actually get through a whole season of F1 without stirring up a whirlwind of bad-press somewhere down the line? Is it actually possible?

About as much chance as a race happening without claims of Lewis Hamilton being screwed over by the team and/or stewards or Lewis Hamilton being accused of breaking the rules!

Cheers!

You're starting to sound like the what next brigade! :hehe:

As I said earlier, there is nothing to suggest (so far) that members of an F1 team were specifically targetted. At worst there'll probably be a few protests but security is going to be so tight and the teams personnel's movements are so heavily restricted I can't see the race being stopped or distrupted. Ultimately, if the teams didn't feel it was safe, they wouldn't have agreed to race?
