Pirelli are doing exactly what the FIA/FOM want; to create tyres that degrade quickly, hence creating the overtaking spectacle that everyone wants, but like DRS and KERS, it's artificial!

I would much rather have tyres that last an entire race, which will take away the need for pitstops completely (baring punctures/car failures), then we'll have pure racing!

But then we wouldn't have all the pit screw ups! Plus, pit stops make more apparent the fact that F1 is a team sport.

I agree with this totally. All last year I was defending the new regs, and I'm still fully in support of them now. Come on guys, the racing is frigging brilliant this year!

All this whinging about Perilli-this, and DRS-that and pure-racing such-and-such a thing is all such :bs:

Boring, boring, boring.

I don't agree at all; the tyres restrict drivers and car as Herr Schumacher has mentioned, what's the point in having a state of the art racecar and putting tyres on it that restrict it's performance or suffer the consequences of having to pit five or six times during a 200 mile race, it's like buying a top of the range sports car and putting wheels from a VW beetle on it!

The regulations last year weren't much different KERS, DRS and the Pirellis... all were there. So ask yourself, is the racing this year brilliant because there are four winning team in four races and the cars are so much closer in performance or because of the regulations?

Is that a hint at Porsche? :P

Subliminal. Given my post, I think he means Mustangs.

That was my thought process, but I didn't actually mention Porsche specifically, I already upset WB with my comment about his driving... didn't want to upset his sensitivities towards Beetles, sorry Porches, sorry Porsche's.

That completely isn't the point though. The one lap performance is still there we saw ultimate quali lap records (from 2004) nearly being broken last season!

These tyres are no different to the super soft Michelin/Bridgestone tyre war era, they didn't last long either (remember all the marbles we got then, even worse than anything ever seen in F1). Yet no complaints there.

Not quite the same thing though; we now have two tyres that both degrade very quickly, back in the tyre wars, the tyres lasted longer in general, you could still get away with one stop, two is the minimum now and then that's pushing it, the tyre performance drop off his massive, which is why most won't risk a two stop strategy, we saw that in action during the Chinese GP when Kimi Raikkonen dropped 9 places in one lap before pitting for tyres, which frankly at that point, he might as well driven in the garage because his race was ruined!

I wasn't really a fan of the tyre wars. Look at Ferrari and Bridgestone. A lethal combination. No more of that please.
