Bring back the one tyre per race rule if you want to see drivers nurse home a cars tyres.

Yes. And I can appreciatethe skill involved in nursing tyres in that way, rather more than the lottery we now have when the tyre suddenly falls off the cliff.

Alonso was a sitting duck at the end of races this year. You knew he'd get overtaken. Id rather have seen him racing than sitting on tyres that wouldnt work.

As far as tyres go, I'd like to see an unlimited number of tyres per driver per race and none of this having to use both compounds in each race. Let each driver use as many or as few as they like and use whatever compund they like. The top 10 having to race on the same tyre that they set their fastest time Q3 time on is nonsence.

Yes  . common sense. So the FIA wont do it.

It's not a lottery though, because there's no luck involved is there? It's all on the driver to get it to work.

Regarding Alonso, that's not Pirelli's fault though. It's either Ferrari's fault for not having a car that works properly on both tyres, or the rulemaker's fault for the STUPID rule about using both compounds...

I agree. You cant blame Pirelli. Theyve done what they were asked to do. Its the silly rules.

But I do think there's luck involved with the tyre drop off. The tyres go off at different times depending on the track, the temperature, the car, and the set up. If the driver has just passed the pits, or his team mate goes in when his tyres go off the cliff, then thats likely his race ruined. It spoils racing.

This has always been the case.

Yes but not so pronounced as this year, usually its been more gradual, not a sudden enormous drop.

You mean an artificially induced sudden enormous drop where if you don't pit on the exact lap for whatever reason you're down 5 seconds?

Yea, I agree with that too. Perhaps give a qualifying tyre just for the cars in Q3 to use in that session.

Also if costs are an issue maybe just offer up two compounds but have them widely separated in terms of how durable/speedy they are. So that you might get some drivers on the fast degrading speedy compounds with accompanying extra pitstops versus others on the long lasting but slower compound maybe not making any pitstops.

If that happened I suspect you might see Button and Hamilton on different strategies every race. Vettel and Webber too possibly.
