It's alright, I realised my comment was harsh and apologised to lonesometwin via PM. No harm was done, you can be assured. :)

“I was pretty happy with my first run in Q3, but I thought I’d be able to squeeze another tenth or so out of my final run. But, on my second attempt, I went a tenth down in the first sector and never really caught that up for the remainder of the lap, so I aborted it".

I don't understand that comment; he was more than a 10th up on Vettel's time at the end of sector 2 (before Vettel set his final lap time); which would have moved JB ahead of Hamilton; I don't understand aborting the lap; why not complete the lap? he could have moved onto the front row; tyre degradation isn't that great at Monza.

He maybe preferred to start from 3rd on the clean side and is hoping for a good start.

Yeah Webber changing chassis,KERS not working almost every time just in Q3 doesn't make sense at all. He was getting close and doing ok the last few..........................

the assumption everyones made that i must stress might be the case and infact true, is that everyone was fully aware of everything going on when these decisions were
made.

Seems to me Jenson felt he hadnt gone faster so stopped, martin saying he made a mistake further in the lap is plausible as it wasnt televised, simple as that if you ask me.

jenson made a mistake, lewis did, both laps were aborted.

But Whitmarsh said he made a mistake in the first half of the lap, even though Jenson had set good times so far.

Times vapty or time? The only time we saw was the first sector and he was .1 up.

first hald of the lap is up midway between the lesmos and ascari, now add in that the first sector timing beam is just before the second chicanr, that leaves said chicane and lesmos assuming whitmarsh was correct in saying it was thenfirst half of the lap where jenson could of mucked up.....

Lol .. Jensen is third on the grid because he wasn't fast enough and made a mistake,it's as simple as that . Jensen fans find it hard to except that Lewis is in front of him but that's their problem.

Lewis and Jensen both made mistakes and their are no team order at Mclaren.

As has been pointed out, Button was ahead of Vettel, let alone Hamilton at the end of sector 2 yet he threw in the towel. It's not a matter of partisanship, it's an anomaly that needs explaining, as well as the lack of comment from Auntie Beeb.

It is quite plausible that Button made the decision by himself and thought he was screwed after his mistake at one of the Lesmos. Makes sense to save the tyres and engine. Plus 3rd could be better than 2nd given it is on the clean side of the track.

I'm not a Hamilton fan and I'm not a Button and and I'm not a McLaren fan, therefore am impartial on this issue. :hehe:

It's a long race tomorrow so you're best to let sleeping dogs lie. What's done is done and both McLarens have qualified well. It's not worth getting steamed about.

This whole topic is lunacy! Don't you think that FOM would have broadcast any message, be it straight forward or coded? Secondly do you honestly think Jenson would even have listened? He stated in Hungary neither he or Lewis would have listened to the team if they were told not to fight for the lead.

What's done is done; I am a JB fan, I don't hide that fact but I don't mind that Lewis is in front of Jenson on the grid; I just wondered what happened as Button was a tenth up at the end of sector 2, I just find it curious that he would pull in unless he had a massive off road excursion, he wouldn't be saving engine or tyres as he would have lifted as soon as crossing the line, maybe with a better time, maybe a slower time than Lewis; we will never know, maybe it was a strategic call by Jenson as he knew that no-one could beat him to third, we'll never know that either!

So, let's enjoy the race instead of talking about what can not be changed!
